princess Cabin

I have tentatively booked an Alaskan cruise on the Sun Princess for June 2003. My cabin is about 15 cabins from the rear and wondered if there is more vibration or noise there than there is forward? This is my first cruise and we are on the Aloha deck. Any comments on this would be appreciated as we could change our cabins easily at this point.

Hi Brad,

First, you are no where near the bottom of the ship.

Some passengers hear the engine noise and vibration on all ships.

When manuvering in port you may hear vibration and/or engine noise. Unless you are an extrmely light sleeper you will not pay any attention to the noises you will hear on a ship. You are more than likely to stay awake with the noise from the air conditioner. Or maybe someone running down the hall.

These are not like motor-boats or ferries boats.

Paul

We just finished a cruise on the Sun on the southbound trip. We were also on Aloha deck, cabin 530. We didnt feel any movement whatsoever...it was like being in a hotel. We went with friends and had adjacent cabins so we had them remove the partition between our balconies. You will love the Sun Princess. Everything about our cruisetour with Princess was top notch. The ship is beautiful, service and food is tops. They really have the Alaska tours and cruises down to a science. Everything moved along like clockwork. Eduardo was our cabin steward and he was at our beck and call. Be sure to ask for robes. They are free and you only get them if you ask. We chose the personal choice dining. We were seated immediately no matter what time we came to the dining room. I would definately do the Personal choice again. We met a lot more people that way, and you can schedule your dining around your activities instead of the other way around. Have a great trip. Alaska is magnificant.
Hi! We were on the Star to Alaska last month. We were in a balcony cabin, Deck 8, about 4 cabins from the rear. We did feel the vibration every night when we went to bed and it did bother us some---not sure if it's from the cabin's location though.

We sailed on the Dawn (sister ship) last year, in a full aft cabin and loved it. We had no complaints about engine noise or vibration, but did read complaints on various boards before the cruise.
