Please Help Me change My Mind or Not

Hello Everyone!

I could really use your help. I have been reading for days and days other sites about these 2 ships and am now more confused than ever.

I am already booked on the Royal Caribbean Enchantment for March 29 in Cat B suite. I booked this as a surprise Christmas gift for my husband, who has never cruised. What attracted me to this ship was the itinerary - 5 nights and places which we have never been. Also the cabin looks beautiful and the ship does as well. I started reading mixed reviews about the food and also am worried about having lots of kids during that time.

I am thinking of changing to Celebrity Century, and do not mind paying the extra $$. It is not that much more for a Sky Suite. I am thinking that the food may be better and there may not be as many children. We are both in our early 40's and do not have any children - Can anyone help me compare before I call.

Thank You

I don't think there will be as many children on either ships because you will be going a week or so before Easter break.

I have sailed on both Royal Caribbean and Celebrity although haven't been on either one of the ships you have chosen. Royal Caribbean is an excellent line, but I would say Celebrity is a cut above in both food & service.

Just one small example is in the dining room. The waiter on Royal Caribbean is also your wine steward, whereas you will have your own wine steward on Celebrity. Another example, when returning from shore back to the ship, they were handing out refreshing cold hand towels to wipe your face. It was a small touch, but it was nice. Same thing when you are in the jacuzzi on the outside deck.

Just returned from Celebrity Galaxy. It was nice coming on board and being handed a glass of champagne and having someone carry your carry-on baggage and being shown to your stateroom.

I agree with Budman. RCL is fine but Celebrity is a distinct cut above. Excellent food, service...and don't forget the 24 hr. butler service in the suites.

If you can afford to switch, I would definately do Celebrity. They have a high number of satisfied customers and great amenities, especially in a suite. These ships are similar in size but the Century carries over 600 less people. This helps with extra special service. Have a great time !

Thanks Everyone.....3 replies is a good enough reason to switch, which I just did - I booked a Sky Suite and the itienary is a good one too! It leaves from Ft. Lauderdale so we can still stay at the Hyatt Pier 66. It was a matter of a few phone calls. I think we will be happy on Celebrity - It has everything that we look for in a resort, so what is not to like? Believe it or not I am a TA who has not been on a cruise! I book a lot of them and always feel stupid because I have to call the cruise line to ask questions. Believe it or not but I do not get a discount, so I pay the same as everyone else. So this info was very much appreciated.

Thanks again, I always know I will get the truth from people on this board

So are you paying yourself 15% commission or are you going to discount that to yourself?

You made the right choice. There probably would be tons of kids/young adults that week. Spring break occurs from late February to mid April - not just Easter week.

I have the commission deducted from the cost of the trip...about $300 or so, maybe 320 or 330...not a lot but better than nothing

I would not be able to cuise in a small cabin anyway, so the TA rate that you get a month or so before sail date is useless to me. We do spend a lot of time in our room when on vacation, so I am happy with my cabin choice...the huge verandah in the Sky Suite looks great.

Thanks again

Have a great trip and let us know how things turned out. Check out the spa -- my wife would never go on a cruise without a day in the spa. Pamper your self. Enjoy!!

Thanks!
I am looking forward to the spa - looks great

I was just looking at different sites and I see on icruise.com that the cabin that I spend over $3000 for is $1500 double occupancy same cabin Sky suite! They are running a special. Will Celebrity honor THAT price or do I have to cancel and re-book? That's a lot of $$. Does anyone know??

Contact how you booked and request the adjustment- you are outside the penality are you not??? They should just adjust the price. This is a common occurance. Prices change all the time.

Thanks Budget Queen...I will do that. I booked thru Celebrity directly, I hope they will change it. My payment in full is due Jan 17 so I hope it will not be a problem.

I just called icruise and the price is no different than celebrity...icruise priced it per person so the price is the same. But thanks anyway

Sandy Feet- You will LOVE Celebrity...WAY WAY better than RCL even tho same ownership....

I found food on RCL was way too salty- every nite-

Celebrity is definitely a cut above- also no announcements out by pool and WAY less kids--

RCL WILL be crowded in Mar. as it is Easter break- colleges have anywhere from FEB to Mid April for Spring break..
And Celebrity is so much classier that the kids don't want to party too much on there...

You definitely made the right choice...

Also THE CENTURY is Celebrity's training ship for their crew,so SERVICE is AWESOME!! and so is the food..
The maitre de ( after our 25 years of cruising) was acutally the first one that was friendly EACH nite and not just on tip nite--gave us places to go to on the islands and all his suggestions were right on the money.

Thank you so much...This is a surprise birthday/christmas gift for my husband. His birthday is next sunday and I cannot wait to "give" it to him. The sailing is not until March but half the fun is looking forward to it! Thanks again, I know I made the right choice in switching. Actually the price is not that much different and I feel it is a better value on the Century. I would think the SS is comparable to the Cat B on the Enchantment. But you get so many more ammenities in the Century. I just found out there is a jacuzzi tub in our suite - yippee!

Thanks again for all your help

Sandy - You definitely made the right choice. The suites on Celebrity are much better from what I understand (haven't been on RCL). You will have true butler service, meaning full meals in your suite and even better, on your balcony. Champagne on arrival, canapes every night, free use of the Thalassotherapy (sp?) pool.... The butler is awesome. SS have huge balconies. But as far as the jacuzzi, it is not huge, but certainly better than the tiny showers you get in most regular cabins.

Have a great time!!!!!!
