Hello,
We are cruising May 13, 2007 to Juneau, Ketchikan,Skagway,Sita,Victoria.
Our on shore excursions need to be without a lot of walking. I have already looked through the book and excluded some. I understand from most of this forum, that I need to book independly for cost sake.
We really want to see some wildlife. There was one excursion that interestingly gave money back (portion) if you did not see whales ect.
What I would like to know is what are the "must sees" of the above ports for this time of year? Also any advice on what we need to take with us?
Thank you in advance.

I would opt for the White Pass Railway in Skagway.
In Sitka, boat exursions would work for you as long as getting on and off is not an issue. Google Davey Lubin for a nice 3-4 hour wildlife tour.
In Ketchikan, the Misty Fjords seaplane is my personal favorite but I am not sure about getting on and off the plane as I am not clear on how mobile your friend is.

I highly recommend the boat tours in Sitka, loaded with varied wildlife. Independent is superior for smaller groups and more individual attention. But the ship contractor- Allen Marine loads right from the cruise ship.
Juneau is 100% sightings of humpbacks on the whale watch tours.

Hello Kfesto and Budgetqueen,
Thank you very much for your timely responses.
I may ask more later. My Husband is disconnecting me this evening. He bought a new computer.
I am so excited about our trip.

BudgetQueen, what are the chances of seeing humpbacks in Juneau at the very end of August? I'm already booked for a glacier dog sled, but there's time to do both. (And there's the possibility the dog sled won't run due to diminished sled conditions).
