Our cell phone did not work on recent Bahama cruise, even in port. You might also check with cruise line to see if there is some way you can receive email on ship (or you can access your own account) if your family is able to email. I would also recommend buying insurance in case you need to leave cruise early for medical emergency of sick parent and that it would be covered in policy.

Gail,
It's Bermuda, not Bahamas, come on people, please read before you answer. This has being getting worse and worse lately, people answering to the moon question, while it was an inquiry about the sun.
Your cell phone in all probability will not work in Bermuda. The 2 ships Celebrity has sailing to Bermuda are their oldest ones, so I'm not sure if they have an 'Internet Room'. If they do, then you could e-mail for about $1.00 per min., so basically it's a lot cheaper just to get a phone card, and call from land-based phone in Bermuda.
Have a great cruise!

Mindy, one more option...
If you go to Celebrity website, they have a listing for phone/fax numbers for each ship. In case of an emergency somebody from home could call you. It's expensive, so I suggest they fax you only because if they've called and you're out of your room, they still get charged, while you did not get to talk to them. With a fax, they will leave a fax cover sheet in your room, so you have a chance to follow up. It's about $10.00 per min., but if it's an emergency, who cares?
