Wow, lucky you. Only about 2 cruises left with the ol' LOVE BOAT after your sailing. Many great memories of the TV show as I was growing up.
Just priced the Category C---wish I could take advantage of that $778 deal! I'm already booked on a cruise to the Caribbean on that date.
So I wish you good sailing and no hurricanes for you or me!
Keep cruising--just not on the Old Pacific Princess!!

Thanks for the good wishes. Yea - it was a good deal, pretty excited about sailing from NYC - my home town. The history of it all makes it priceless. Clear skies, calm seas and happy sailing to you as well.

Mary,

My husband I cruised on PP to Bermuda in June, our very first cruise ever. There is NOTHING bad I can say about it, it was truly a wonderful experience and my husband is looking for a second cruise already. If you have any specific questions, email me.

Thanks Joy, Which of the three cities, St. Georges, Hamilton, or Dockyard was the prettiest - the one you wish you had more time in?

Mary, as they say - to each his own, but as far as the dockyard, I could have just stayed on the ship (and mostly did, we were only there a few hours before the shops closed). Maybe if you get farther away from the dockyard there is more to do, but I didn't see it. It was our 3rd stop and by then, I'd had enough of the heat (it was terribly hot in June).

From where the ship docks in St. Georges it is just a very short walk into the quaint downtown. There are shops and cobblestone streets and a town square. It was very attractive, a small quiet little town.

We bought the 3-day bus and ferry pass (from the purser on the boat) and used it quite a bit to hop from place to place.

Hamilton was a much bigger city than I'd expected. There is a lot of traffic and it wasn't quite what I pictured. There are horse and buggy carriages parked on the main street which we thought was a nice way to take a little tour of the city.

There were things I like about St. George and things I liked about Hamilton, but not much impressed me with the dockyard. But, I'm sure some people enjoyed it.

The cruise was a special anniversary trip and having never cruised before, just relaxing on the boat was a fantastic vacation. The food great, as was the entertainment. The casino is very small, but the slots were loose - they weren't making money on them. We had a cabin on the aloha deck on the starboard side. Okay, if I must complain about something, the twin beds are small and not conducive to an anniversary trip!!!! But the cruise was great and if I had a chance to go on the Pacific Princess again, I would.

Many thanks for your input. We will use your comments to plan our visits ashore. We too will be on the Aloha Deck starboard. Glad to hear that the Cruise was a good experience. I hope it will be the same for us. Just wondering did you drive to the NYC Pier to Board the ship. If so, how convenient was the parking set-up?

Here is a link to some info on the NY Passenger Ship Terminal that I found when I planned my trip:

http://www.nypst.com/

We flew into LaGuardia and taxied to the dock, but we met several people on the cruise who had parked at the dock and didn't seem to have any problems. It is immediately adjacent to the ship. It gets awfully crowded at check in time, so as always - get there early. Enjoy!

I just had to put mu two cents in about Bermuda. No one mentioned the beaches! Bermuda has some fo the most beautiful beaches in the world.! You've heard about the pink sand? Well, it really is pink. Don't miss Horseshoe Bay and Warwick Bay. Gorgeous.
Sandy in Dallas

Plenty to do in the Dockyard area. Do your homework. You can walk to Snorkel Beach, hanglide in a two seater.(real seats). Rent a motorboat and go to one of the many secluded beaches. Rent a jet ski. Take a ferry to St. George or Hamilton. Take the local ferry to Hamilton that stops at some really neat areas (limited schedule). Take a bus to Somerset.

As far a parking at the NYC pier it costs $16 per day cash. Do not arrive before 12:30PM or you will get caught in the crush of cars trying to get off the ramps. Also the ships do not open until about that time.

Enjoy,

Paul

Paul, I thought we would be early birds and arrive at the Pier before Noon. Guess we won't do that - Thanks for that helpful info. Mary
