Debating between Pride of Aloha and Pride of Hawaii.

Have been to Hawaii before and stayed at Hyatts in Maui and Kauaui. This is a less expensive way to go- espcially with food on the ship included. Have been on Carnival and Royal Carb. before.

Any thoughts/comments on the above ships? Rate I am getting is really really good.

IMO, there is a reason the rates are "really, really, good" and you get what you pay for.

Both ships have been plagued with service issues and have very mixed reviews.

A group of us are leaving on the 24th of June on the Pride of Aloha. We got great rates as well. I am going to experience Hawaii. If the food is below average, I can stand to loose a few pounds. I agree you always get what you pay for, I have been on one NCL and it was not my favorite line to be honest, but I want to see Hawaii. It is a great opportunity to do so for a great price. I will let you know when I return. If you are really interested in the good rate I would go ahead and go for it. There are always naysayers for everything.

We did the long cruise on NCL's "Wind" less than two years ago. It is an older ship, but we enjoyed it immensely. The food was good and service was okay. The two ships you mentioned are both new, I believe, and are supposed to be nice. We also did the Baltic capitals on NCL's "Dream" last summer and found it satisfactory. In August we are the Royal Caribbean's "Legend of the Seas" in eastern Mediterranean. We'll be better able to compare,then, but we know people who have done Hawaii on "Pride of Aloha" and were pleased with it.

I did a cruise of Hawaii on the Pride of Hawaii last June. It was wonderful. They were short of wait staff in the restaurants but it was fine. If you would like to eat at any of the special restaurants make reservations the day you board as they tend to become full immediately. Have fun.

People seem to be happier when they go on these cruises thinking about the ship as a floating hotel and resort. Use it to sleep and eat, but spend most of your time in the ports. Eat early or eat late to avoid the crowds and lines.

But, it is an affordable and efficient way to see the Hawaiian islands.
