Which are the BEST cruises to take doing both land & sea? ANd what are the best cruise lines.

That's a very general question. It really depends. Youe age, your interest, likes and dislikes.

Almost all the mass market crusie lines do land and sea combine tours. However, they are a lot more expensive than what you can do on your own.

Best is to pick a North bound cruise, ending in Alaska and book your own land pacakge. Some prefer to fly to Alaska, do the land package first, and then take the cruise going south.

You have to decide first where you wanted to go, then see what ships goes there.

If you decide to do the cruise line's land package, I think it's better to do the land tour first and then the southbound cruise. That allows you to relax on the cruise after what might be a pretty rapid-fire land tour.

We agree with Cranachin about taking the land portion first and then relaxing. Princess land portion was go, go, go, for six days in 3 locations. Great but tiring and the flight out was way too early. We would definitely do the land portion first.

We are both seniors and my husband can't walk too fast or too long. So, maybe we should do a land tour first. If we do that, where should we fly into & what company do we contact for the land tour? We actually just want to go sightseeing. Any info would be very helpful.
And, do you schedule your cruise first and pick up the boat in ALaska???

We did the cruise first and the land second. Compared to other cruises we have been on, it was very enjoyable. On our most recent cruises, disembarkation and travel home (albeit from Europe) were the most difficult and unpleasant parts. On our Alaska cruise, disembarkation and transfer to the land portion was seamless. And flying from Fairbanks to Anchorage to Seattle was easy. WE did stay in Seattle for several days then. So we were well rested when we got home. The land tour was the best cruise line sponsered tour I have been on. A good tour with few aggravations and few forced shopping events. We were on Holland America and found it congenial.

I never heard cruises that offer in both land and sea. maybe their are some, actually based on my experiences some are the the best in sea but not in land. Some are the best in land and not by sea. Maybe this can help just check it by choice http://www.bestcruiselines4u.com/cat...t-cruise-lines
