I hope you have a wonderful time on your cruise. I think you will look just fine in what you have chosen to wear.

Hey junior, get a clue, better yet, pick up a copy of W and get some fashion sense, white jeans are a classic, not unlike oxford shirts, bateau neck "sailor" shirts and navy blazers. They'll look great with a pair of Tod's slides or moc's or Cole Haan thong sandals.

It's obvious that junior wouldn't know fashion if it were tattoo'd on his/her back.

I must say I recently returned from a cruise. On casual night I did indeed wear white "baggy" jeans. I think most people are not as interested in what you are wearing as people seem to think that they are. I had no problem with it, and this was also RCCL line. Mine were Bill Blass. Good point, Jackie Kennedy loved her jeans. They are fashionable. (anything JackieO would do would be fine by me.) Anyways, mine are new they were not purchased at Wal-Mart either. I wore a fasionable top and I felt very comfortable. Not a problem. On formal nights we of course dressed to the hilt. Trust me Heland, you will be fine on casual night in the white jeans.

Actually, Nina, white jeans would go great with a tatoo on the back. Good thinking! Happy cruising, Heland. And don't forget that curling iron for them bangs!

The dress code is not written is stone!
Most cruise lines even call it the "suggested dress code".
I've seen everything from bib overalls to sequein dresses on casual night.
In my opinion people should be able to
wear what ever they like.
How many peoples dinners have been ruined because someone wore jeans or
even a pair of nice shorts (I have seen some people wear shorts to dinner.)
After you sit down at the table who
even sees what your wearing.
It cracks me up that so many people
critize and judge people for what they
are wearing. I'm usually to busy enjoying my meal and conversing with my dinner companions to even notice what
other people have on much less let it
offend me.
And for all you judgemental people out there, how do know what other people
are saying about you? Do you think you look that good??

If I take Puppydog’s logic to its logical extreme, I would say

1. Smokers should smoke whatever they want wherever they want.
2. Drunks should be permitted to barf on my shoes
3. Fist fights are an appropriate way of gaining a chair near the pool

There are more…

Consideration be damned.

Lew, You mean to say it would bother you as much to see someone in white jeans on casual night as it would if someone barfed on your shoes? You might want to see a good doctor for that disorder...

You just don't get it. You think insults justify bad behavior.

And yes, people who think common consideration is below them do bother me.

You're right Lew, I don't get how my wearing white jeans on casual night could possibly be construed as being inconsiderate towards other passengers. If people wearing white jeans truly offends you, then perhaps you might consider that you're just a tad hypersensitive and more than a tad unreasonable.

Lew,
I think you make a poor comparison between someone wearing nice dress jeans on a casual evening AND THAT OF physical violence, polluting air, and vomiting on shoes.
Heland,
Wear your nice white jeans and have a grand time.

My one and only point is "And yes, people who think common consideration is below them do bother me."

The ME ONLY attitude does bother me, whether on a cruise ship or anywhere else.

Basically, who cares what anyone wears AS LONG AS IT IS IN KEEPING WITH THE SPIRIT OF THE OCCASION.

Those in favor of breaking the spirit simply say it doesn't matter, or I paid for my cruise [or whatever] and I WILL DO what I want.

Not having a valid argument, they then resort to nit-picking the suggestions, or insults.

QED

It sounds like Lew thinks that her way of thinking is the only way! We all pay good money to go on vacation. It's not a matter of being stubborn or disrespect to the dress codes, some people like to get all dressed up and some don't. It's all a matter of preference not a matter of weather you can get a way with it. Do you really think its fair to expect everyone to have to dress the way you think we should?.

I don't care what anyone wears for dinner EXCEPT those that dress in shorts! The few that do that are judged by most, who view their dress, as trailor court trash.

I'm not criticizing white jeans for casual night dinner, I'm criticizing them in general.

(a) Does one know the written dress suggestions PRIOR to going on a cruise?
YES.

(b)Don't most of the cruise lines even provide an alternative for those who think they can't conform to the suggested dress for a couple of hours a night, by having an "alternative" to dining in the main dining room?
YES

(c)Aren't there cruise lines out there who encourage you to dress as you wish on their line?
YES

(d) why don't those who feel they can't be out of their shorts/jeans, etc. for a couple of hours a night utilize the alternative dining options or cruise lines?
YOU TELL US.

(e) is it because " It's my cruise and I will do as I please"?
LIKELY.
