I'm so glad you enjoyed Belize! If you're GF is bug phobic that's definitely not the destination for her. I still vividly remember waking up at 4:00am in a hotel in Dangriga and finding termites crawling all over me, yikes! Belize is a wonderful country though. I found diving in southern Belize to be better than the area around Caulker/Ambergris, more pristine, less divers, but a longer boat ride unless you stay out in the cayes. So you might give that a try if you return.

Enjoy your cruise (why do I get the feeling that cruising may not be for you)

Patty - As for cruising being for me or not.... I'll just say that being in the jungle at Caves branch for a few days of caving at Ian Anderson's place and eating a bowl of cow's foot soup in a one table shack restaurant were among the most memorable highlights for me of the the time in Belize. Regardless... I'll make the best of it - the GF is sure to be in great spirits because she likes cruising and I like being with her so it's syre to be fun, even if not my preferred mode of vacationing.

Smoe of my fellow cavers had stayed at the Manta Resort down near Dangrigia for a diving vacation and loved it - spectacular diving and good food. My dilemma is that I'm disinclined to do a strictly dive dedicated vacation on a remote island unless I have a travel partner to hang out with (I'm fine doing it solo like I did in Coz because there are land based diversions in town to fill up the slack time).

I highly recommend to go with a room with a window. Having sunlight in the room makes it so much much better. At least consider a room with obstructed view. The price is normally the same as the inside room, but you will get sunlight. There might be a boat blocking the view of the window, but the sunlight is still great. Eventhough I was not in the room much, I would be out of my mind on a 7day cruise without waking up having the sunlight through the window.

To each his own--I like to sleep in a very dark room, and get cranky if the sun wakes me up.

I prefer not to have anyone walking by our cabin.
