How to handle rude passengers?

How do you handle rude passengers? For instance when the people put a bunch of towels on lounge chairs to "save" them?

I have once balled up the towel and tossed it into the used towel bin. I was never confronted. Frankly I think that the people who save chairs know that they are in the wrong so when someone calls them on it, they will rarely make a big deal of it.

What do you others do?

I have "accidentally" spilled my drink on a towel and tossed it and them claimed the seat as mine.

I have yelled at two kids who were acting crazy in the hottub.

I have brought such a towel situation to the attention of the staff but they indicated that theycould not do anything about it. I would like to know what to do on future cruises. Looking forward to replies.

I just remove the towel and claim the seat. If anyone says anything I feign innocence and say that I thought the seat was empty and someone had left the towel. Rarely am I confronted. you move you loose.

I find that belittling rude people in front of their children is pretty amusing. I do it all the time.
As a rule of thumb. If a towel has personal items on it it is best to leave it, but if it is just a towel you can remove it. Ship policy states lounge chairs can not be saved.

Paul

I agree with Paul. If it is just a towel, remove it and claim the seat. If someone tells you that it is saved, kindly advise them that the ship's policy is to not allow passengers to save seats and that there are no other available chairs. if the person persists and says there are other available chairs, tell them that when their friend returns that they can claim one of the available chairs.

Then you may as well light up a cigarette and let a few farts slip out because you will have created an enemy anyway.
The best way to handle rude passengers is to refer to post above about throwing things overboard and try it with them.

I think that most of these computer nerds are fat and wimpy and would never consider even confronting someone. This is all a show because they are at a computer and can type whatever they want.

I save chairs all the time and I have never been confronted.

I tried saving a section of the pool by putting my towel on it. But a funny thing happened. I guess I'll have to try to think of something else.

Question: How do you know that the chair is being saved? If I leave a towel while I jump in the pool for 5 minutes, does that mean my chair won't be there when I get back? Tricky business this removing towels. Paul suggests that I leave personal items. What if someone steals them?

Let Paul talk them to death with all his wonderful knowledge. You'll be able to watch their eyes glaze over instantaneously while they start to snore.

You must immediately report any unruly guests to the proper authorities. In case of saving seats, you must seek out the person in charge and lodge a complaint.
This is the proper way and once notified, the authorities will act promptly to rectify the situation.
Saving seats and rude behavior simply is not tolerated.

Obviously you haven't been on a cruise. They enforce nothing. I reported a way under age drinker to the "Authorities". They said they didn't want to upset the parents that were with them.
