Hi: You are best to check with the cruise line that you are using - they may each have different age requirements. We were on Carnival 2 yrs ago and I think kids that age coudl go on their own. Most cruise lines will have a parent info. nite the 1st day or so of your cruise to explain the children's program.

We went on Carnival last year. My daughter was 7 and I had to sign her in and out. I remember commenting to my husband that next year (age 8) would be the last year that I would be able to monitor her by signing her in and out.

They may have changed the age since then. Also, if I go back when she is 9 I am going to lie about her age at the kids club because I don't want her to be able to sign in and out on her own.

There are 1400 people on the ship at once. I wasn't too wild about the large number of young drunk passengers. Don't get me wrong, I loved the cruise, the food, everything. I just wouldn't want my baby rooming that ship on her own.
