Apparently some people just can't get past disappointments and feel the need to tell their stories over and over and over and over and...

genec, thank you for your useful and interesting post. One day I will travel to eastern Europe. Last April I went to Australia (Darwin) on an AAT Kings tour. Unfortunateley a cyclone hit part of the area we were scheduled to visit (Kakadu). They scrambled to rearange a shortened tour without knowing when the roads would re-open and added some additional hotel time and tours in Darwin to keep me on schedule. They said we would get an adjustment. Sure enough when I got home they sent me a refund for about what I thought it should be. Isn't that the way it's supposed to be!? Next trip to Europe, I'll remember your post. If you ever go to Australia....Thanks again.

To genec, Cindiloowho, Matt from Seattle, and all the other folks who have posted about lousy experiences with this company, I hope that you will also post any recompense or satisfaction you get, if any, so that the travelling public, (or at least those with problems) will be able to share news about solutions or resolutions;it would be a great comfort to others who might be intimidated by this company's questionable practices. Please continue to post, irregardless of some few folks who can't resist a biting comeback or put down.

Hope you all might be interested in the fact that we, at long last, got our money owed us from GCT, posted back to our credit card. Pays to keep trying....

I just got a catalogue from Avalon tours, and there is a statement to the effect that low-water conditions might require bus instead of ship travel. So it's not just GCT.

Underhill: That's good that they tell you ahead of time what the 'deviation' might be. I think that companies are now doing that because of all the fall out from other tour companies that did not, in fact, give any clue what they had planned until folks got to Europe and got the 'big surprise'.
