Galaxy Cruise-New England, Nova Scotia
A few of my friends are taking the Galaxy Cruise to New England and Nova Scotia next week. They have questions about if you have to take the ship excursion's or can you get a taxi or tour group from the various ports. There are three of them going so they could all go together in the cost. They are interested in going to Peggy's Cove and Cadillac Mountain..I am not going, but my computor skills are better! Any information about this cruise would be greatly appreciated.

Free country even in NS. Feel free to do it on your own.
Margie: You might help them some this week looking at some websites to compare to the excursions they received with their cruise packet.
Sounds like a great trip---waiting about 4 weeks may have meant beautiful, colorful leaves though.
Happy cruising!

Depending on where you live...whether in the mid-West or the coast.. Think twice about Peggys Cove..it is nothing but a little fishing village. and by the time you get out there the fog is liable to roll in and you can't see much. We hired a taxi driver for a tour of Halifax which is a wonderful city, gorgeous.. He took us to the graves of the Titanic victims...It was one of the highlights of the trip and very emotional. He dropped us off at the Citadel in time to see the Bagpipes marching...and then picked us up again to take us to the waterfront where we had lunch. There is a museum next to the pier which I've heard was wonderful. Please let me know what other ports are included.. We did this a cruise to this area two years ago..

Here is a web site that will help you. http://www.nstourism.com/ I lived in Nova Scotia for over 20 yrs and still love to go to Peggys Cove every time I'm home. It's simple to rent a car and get there on your own. On another note, there are lots to do in Halifax and with only one day you'll never get it all done. Hi-lite of Halifax are:
Citadel Hill
Bluenose II sailing ship
Fisheries Museam
Halifax Waterfront
Casino

Enjoy Halifax!
