From the airport
Any transportation suggestion from the Ft. Lauderdale airport (FLL) to the port? How much should I plan to spend? Does anyone have any strong caution against arriving at FLL about 11:30am for a noon ship boarding and 5pm ship departure? Any info helps, thanks!

You'll have plenty of time to get to the ship if you arrive at 11:30am.
The cruise ship should offer this transfer -- bus from airport to port, but sometimes it is much cheaper for the two of you to hop into a cab.
Looking at a map, it looks like it's about 5 miles to Port Everglades. With all your luggage, I would go with a cab.

Thanks, Glad to hear the 11:30 isn't too late... We are taking the Princess Caribbean to the Eastern Caribbean. Hey beerman, do you know the guidelines for how much of what "drink stuff" we can bring with us on board? Thanks again for your replies.

Depending upon which cruise line you take, on Celebrity and Royal Caribbean, I carry on my own wine and have never been questioned. Did have to pay corkage if I brought it to the dining room.
Written policy on most lines is that you are not allowed to bring any alcohol on board.
I don't know about your cruise line. Bubble wrap what ever spirits you drink in your check luggage for your use in your stateroom. Shouldn't be a problem.

The airport and Port Everglades are across the street from each other, but it's a couple miles from one to the other (plane to ship -- so to speak.) Take a cab if the cruiseline doesn't offer a shuttle. It should be about a 5 minute ride, plus any security stops.

I was emailed this info from Princess regarding bringing alcohol on board:
"Passengers may bring onboard their own personal selections of wine. There
are no limits to the number of wines brought onboard. However, a $10
corkage fee per bottle applies to any bottles consumed in public areas i.e.
dining rooms, lounges."

Just returned from the Jewel. We took a van to the Marriott ($7.pp)that held 8 people and lots of luggage. We walked 3 to 4 blocks to shopping, restuarants and liquor stores.FL was clean and we felt safe walking the streets. We were able to board the ship at 11:15 but couldn't go to our cabins till 1pm. Go have lunch on the 11th floor at noon and then explore the ship. Mimi

Take a cab- the most convenient transfer- should be less than $10++
