Interestingly enough that some people have commented that this CC board has cheerleaders that will flame you if you attack their favorite line. I thought that was what Peter and Paul did when you attacked CCL or RCCL.

Now that registration is here al I see this Peter guy whining about is how registration has ruined this board. Yet, he continues to troll it.

I like this board. It's layout is simple and user friendly. Too many web designers get caught up with flashy design and not functionality. And now that registration is here to stay, you get simple and functional answers as well.

Good Show Fodors

Hey techydude - what are you doing on this board anyway? Its a cruise forum and all you can talk about is how wonderful registration is and how thankful you are to Fodors for adopting it. If you do a search on your contributions since January, you find nothing about cruising except that you don't tip the head waiter and what the two different kinds of parasailing there is.

I'd suggest that until you can contribute a thought or two on cruising subjects that you go elsewhere with your brown nosing and negative comments towards me and anyone else who talks about the good old days when this forum had a reason for being.

P.S. - seven posts in the last 24 hours!
How sad.

Peter

Collina,

I don't think you understood all these posts.
On CC you will find cheerleads under each cruise line. If you go to the Carnival board, 95% or better love Carnival and some are considered cheerleaders. You will not find many negatives, most will tell you how wonderful everything is.

If you go to another board and ask about Carnival, you will get a lot of negatives, both from people who have not sailed Carnival but also from people who did, and didn't like it so switched to another line.

On this board, since it is not broken out by cruise line you can get both types of replies, positive and negative.

There is negativity about ALL lines.
An example: Hal has Near Deads, Carnival has too many drunks and tacky hairy chest contests.
Get the picture? It is all about what an individual thinks.
There is a touch of truth to both my examples, but it does not mean that every single person is ready to drop dead on Hal or everyone gets drunk on Carnival. Each line is different and you have to sort throught everything to figure out what is best for you.

By using CC, yes, you can get some good answers, but you have to realize you are on a board that adresses one cruise line only and the majority love that cruise line. When a negavtive shows up, the cheerleaders tend to flame, since they think they have to defend their favorite line.

For an indidual to give an opinion on a line they haven't sailed can be perfectly valid, even if it is negative. A lot of people have learned a lot from reading multiple boards.
An Example:
What is Princess like?
I have not sailed this line but could give a negative opinion about Personal Choice. I have read too many reviews where people had to wait to get dinner. I could get flamed, from people that didn't have a wait and claimed how wonderful it is.

At least I have something nice to say, with the exception of one person.

I have only been on 3 cruises so my experiences are limited.

I enjoy reading the cruise pages to see what things may be offered for a future vacation.

What is the old saying, " Don't (blank) where you eat and eat where you (blank).

You should try it sometime. The "Good" Ole days are gone. Deal with it.

It seems to me that you were the person before registration who thought "all inclusives" had cruises beat seven ways to Sunday - am I right? Didn't you post that the economics of cruising just weren't there when compared to all inclusive resorts?

Peter

I personally have found the CC board to be the most helpful to me when I am planning a cruise vacation. I have attended 2 unofficial cruise critic parties and have met very wonderful people. I'm usually on the Princess board and don't notice snobishness personally. There are a chunk of folks who prefer balcony cabins and some who would rather sail twice as much by sticking with an inside cabin. I think the CC site is easier on the eyes and once you get used to navigating it, it offers a lot. I have found it to be the most active board and a better resource that Fodors, cruisemates, or cruise-addicts. Of course, I'll continue to peruse all of them and I appreciate everyone who posts as info from others' experiences is always helpful.
Happy sailing!

I just got off the Cruise Critic board, Celebrity site, and almost all of the posts this weekend deal with roll calls and Cruise Critic parties. Completely worthless site. I personally prefer Cruisemates.

I agree with Talltraveler.
I think that the CC board is the most active, and I always get quick responses when I ask for them.
True, the roll calls get cumbersome, but I just ignore them.
I have never seen any snobish attitudes, quite the contrary.
As an example..I didn't receive my shore excursions booklet..and when I posted on that topic someone from my home town offered to loan me hers!
Way above the call of duty, IMHO.

I do think that the Europe board is more active here, than the Ports of Call board on CC..and I use the Europe board often.

You should look at the Hal board. They are killing each other again. Some poor sole posted a review that contained some problems that were encountered on the ship. This person was not complaining, ranting or demanding refunds, all they did was report some problem and along with it said Hal was doing everything they could to fix the problem. The cheerleaders appeared and flamed this poor person.

Starfish-you are right, it was almost comical. Except I felt sorry for the poster who was only trying to tell the facts.

These people can be so blind- imagine calling flooding on several decks and power failures for at least 2x -Nit-Picking! They can be unreal.

Maryann,

The flamers sounded like total idiots to me. I really felt sorry for the poster.
