Fishing in Juneau or Ketchikan

Hi All, I'm scheduled for a 7-day cruise on the Diamond Princess going Inside Passage. I have taken Budget Queen's advice that I have been reading on many boards to look into booking directly instead of with the cruise line. We have essentially a pretty good timeframe in Juneau but only 6 1/2 hours in Ketchikan. Any recommendations on if Juneau or Ketchikan has good fishing in mid September? Since we have some much time in Juneau, we'd prefer to us the time to fish, if it is worth it there.

Thanks in advance for any advice!!

We are leaving on September 17. I know it is late in the season, but will be in Juneau on Sept 19 and Ketchikan on Sept 22.

Best to inquire directly from venders what their stats are. Be prepared for foul weather and hope for none- last 2 seasons were exceptional. Be on the alert for Northern Lights- get a wake up call if possible from the bridge. Plan your touring carefully- it will be dusk by 7pm. Bring proper attire- you want comfort not freezing.

I would be out every night between 1-2 am and be prepared to stay out- WITH 2 important factors. You need a CLEAR sky- meaning you have excellent viewing of stars AND no full moon. If cloudy, forget it and get your sleep. Consider checking the internet for predictions via the Fairbanks Alaska U site, they update them daily.
