Fate of Renassance Ships

My wife and I had a wonderful 12 day trip from Lisbon to Dover on R8 in May. We had planned to sail with them again. Does anyone know what has happened or is likely to happen to the Renaissance ships? I'll gladly follow R8 to another line if they keep the same style of trips.

Just received an email....Renaissance Cruises is back after a one year "sabbatical". Must be a new term for bankrupt. I'm sure the ships have been well maintained sitting in dry dock for the past year YUCK.

To xxx: Did your mail have an e-mail address for them? I went to their website but the only information on the site was the bankruptcy stuff. I can't seem to find any other information on them. Would like to try their cruises.

The last 2 posts were info that I submitted on another post about Renaissance, thought they may help.I mentioned that the R3 & R4 will be in Tahiti the other ships had been leased by Renaissance and were repossed by the holder and will be released or sold to whomever.

Message: Nope they're dead....everything is being sold.At least two ships have been sold to Princess(R3,R4). One will be permanently based in Tahiti and the other will split the year sailing in Tahiti and New Caldonia.

At long last, P&O Princess is confirming what is possibly the worst-kept secret in cruise-dom. The company announced today that yes, indeedy, it has acquired the Tahiti-based former Renaissance ships R3 and R4

I just received an email from Galaxsea Cruises for a 10 day Tahiti/Cook Island cruise on the former R4 which will be renamed Tahitian Princess. I believe the cruises will start on December 24th of this year and operate year round. In addition to the French Polynesian ports (Tahiti, Huahine, Raiatea, Moorea, Bora Bora) it will also stop at Rarotonga (Cook Islands). Sounds interesting... I'm tempted to go again. I couldn't find any info on Princess' own website though.

OK, found the press release, but don't see any itineraries yet. I would love to go on the Marquesas one!

What about the small ships: Renaissance VII and VIII? We were on the VII Aug. 2001 to the Norwegian fjords and loved it!I know that Cruise West has the old Renaissance V, now called Spirit of Oceanus. Tried to get on their 10-day Alaska cruise, but it was sold out! The suites on these ships are HUGE! Anybody know what's happened to them?
