Emerald Princess or Star Princess?

With the same itineraries one day apart in April, I am trying decide whether to cruise on the Emerald Princess or the Star Princess. I have read the cruisecritic.com reviews and the ratings are very similar. The price is the same. The Emerald is newer so I am leaning toward that. If anyone has personal, recent experiences on either ship, I would love to hear from you!

The Emerald is huge and if full its pretty crowded the star is smaller as to service both are good etc.

Both ships are hugh and are always full. I was on the Ruby (Emerald's suster ship) and we don't feel being crowded at all. Love the movice under the star feature and the Piazza.

Emerald, laucnhed in 2007 is new than Star. Star Princess came out from dry dock in 2008 with a few new renovation but I don't know if Movies under the stars is one of them. So technically, Star is "newer".

Either way, you would love the ship as they are both nicely decorated. Star's decore has Asian influence if it means anything to you.

Haven't sailed on the Emerald, but have taken two cruises on the Star and were very comfortable. She is bigger than we are used to, but the only crowding seems to be when getting off and on the ship on port days. They have a system for tendered ports, but there still seems to be some confusion. We stood in long lines waiting to board in both Mexico and South America. Other than that the only part of the ship that seemed crowded and tables hard to come by was in the Piazza. I'm sure you would enjoy either ship. Bon Voyage!

We're going on Star this year and yes, they do have movies under the stars.
