Electricity question (insert "embarassed" emoticon here :) )
I think somebody asked this recently, but I can't find it... We'll cruise in Europe on Vision RCCL - the electricity and plugs will be the same as in the US, right? Or wrong?
My husband asked to consult my "imaginary friends" on Fodor's for his electric razor. Honest!

Naw, I'll let him become a sea dog - grow a beard
As for power adaptors, something else is needed, I forgot what it called. Adaptors change the voltage from 220 to 120. There is something else to change the frequency from 60 to 50 (or vise versa??) So in total, it may get too bulky for us
We are light packers.

The adapter is used to fit the plug to the wall. A converter or transformer is needed to change the voltage. Some travel appliances, such as hair dryers, need only adapters as they switch automatically to the new voltage but some have to be changed manually. Other appliances will need both the adapter and converter. See:

My mom learned about the difference between a convertor and an adapter.....before we left for England, she contacted the hotel and was told yes, they indeed had ADAPTERS in all of the rooms.......so she plugged her 110 curling iron into the ADAPTER and was rewarded by a display of sparks and the plastic handle parting company with the barrel and an impressive singe in the quilted curling iron protector. For Christmas that year, she received an adapter and the all-important CONVERTER!!
