Early planning stages of European Cruise
My husband will not fly. I recently returned from a 3 week tour of Europe with my sisters. We went to Germany, Prauge, Salzburg, Rome, Venice, Florance, and Paris.WOW I was so smitten with the experience that I am trying to figure out a way to get my husband to Europe and back without an airplane involved. I know we can cruise from Galvaston to Barcelona but how about getting back? Plus once we get there I would it be possible to stay a couple weeks to tour Europe by train and then take a cruise back?

You have a big problem. The days of transatlantic cruising are gone. There are repositioning cruise when cruise lines move ships from one area to another. But these cruises are seasonal. In the Spring ships move from the Caribbean to Europe and back in the Fall. You would have to stay for three or four months to take advantage of the return. There is the possibility of frighters but I know nothing of that. Probably would be easier to get him on a plane.

thanks for the info although it was disappointing to hear. So its not possible to cruise to Barcelona and then cruise back in a couple of weeks to US. Even from a different port other than Barcelona or even a different cruise line?

I'm sure if you are prepared to leave from another port, or even another country (get there by train?) you can find a return transatlatic cruise. It may not take you back to Galvaston but It must be possible. Have a look at websites that offer more than one company's cruises and see what you can find. Good Luck!.

Please, hetismil, donot provide misinformation. There is a general movement in the Spring of ships from the Caribbean to Europe and Alaska for summer cruises and then a return in the Fall to the Carribean. They are all called repositioning cruises. Contact each cruise line as ask for repositioning cruises.
