Dining room surcharges on Mariner of the Seas
I know the new trend is to charge a surcharge for the upscale dining rooms aboard ships. I plan to sail on the Mariner in April and I know that the Voyager class with RCCL really has a lot of these surcharges. I would love to hear what everyone thinks about the dining options aboard this ship and if the surcharge was worth it! Thanks!

I have sailed 3 times on Voyager Class, once on the Mariner, returning in 6 weeks. I liked the privacy and service in Chops and Portofinos. However, the food was not all that great. I don't eat meat, so I am not one to judge. My husband had a filet at Chops, but all the extras caused him severe heartburn and a trip to the clinic. We just don't eat like some people. The food is okay in the dining room...if you don't like it, ask for a sub. They will work with you to make you happy, trust me. The wines on the ship are quite good- don't miss a few events in the wine bar on the Promenade.

went on the mariner last year and was disappointed!! been on other royall ships, like the smaller ones better!! the ship had a lot of kinks to be worked out arrive ealy to shows for a seat!!!! any way, stick to the dinning room, i think that is the best choice the food is great and the atmosphere is fun. dont spend the extra unless you want romantic time alone. Note i heard that royal has finally decided to change there dinning room menu this year so there will be some changes
