Sorry to be the negative poster, but I did not enjoy Celbrity, Galaxy which we took to Alaska last year. my husband and I (late 20s) went with his parents (early 50s) The in laws seemed to enjoy the trip, but it was definitely geared to an older crowd. The food was great and alaskan scenery beautiful, but if you are looking for a fun atmosphere this would ot be my pick. We enjoy crazy poolside games, dancing until the wee hours, sports bars & comedy clubs and plenty of sports. It seemed Bingo was about the only daytime activity on this ship!

Caryl - I was on the Celebrity Galaxy Inside Passage last summer (2000) and loved it. The ship is beautiful and Celebrity service is excellent. I understand that the age and "style" of the crowd depends on the time of year in Alaska: spring and fall get mostly older cruisers and mid-summer (when I went) you get more families and relatively younger passengers in their '30's to '50's. Personally, I'm an active single gay man in my late thirties, and I found plenty of things to do: mountain biking, sea kayaking, and hiking excursions, and lots of spaces to read or relax with friends on board. Celebrity isn't Carnival, so there aren't pool games, etc.

I would HIGHLY recommend a Celebrity ship in Alaska. I have been on both the Galaxy and the Mercury in Alaska and loved them!
In regards to the age - well as far as I am concerned, Alaska has more to do with the scenery and beauty outside then it does with the comedy clubs and bars on the inside.
The age group on board both cruises was quite varied. There were quite a few families due to the summer season but there were also older guests as well. But the service and amenities were amazing and well worth it. I also found the bars and discos to be quite entertaining during the night.
Enjoy whatever you choose!
