Celebrity Constellation?

Thinking of this ship on the southern Carib route for Jan. '05. My wife and I (no kids). First-timers. Comments, please?

My husaband and I sailed the Constellation Dec 02 the Southern Caribbean from San Juan and we had a great time. Very few kids on board. Nice ship, nice balcony. Ocean Liners Restaurant was fabulous! Don't miss it! Have a great time.

We were on the Constellation in March - had a great time. We plan to go again in December. You may hear some of the port choices are not the best (Grenada, Casa De Campo), that is a matter of opinion. Any specific questions?

Thanks for the replies.
Yankfan,
What can you suggest to make the most of DR and the Grenada stops?

MauiMaui,
What are the differences between the main dining room and the Ocean Liner restaurant? Food, ambience, etc.

We sailed on the Constellation twice - food was great in the regular dining room....never tried the Ocean Liner.
This ship was recently picked the best of the large ships by Conde Nast...you will love it.

For DR - there is a free shuttle to a village w/shops good views etc. That is basically all we did. They have some ship sponsored tours - a beach trip. If you are a golfer, I hear this is the place to play. In the evening there is a ship sponsored trip for an evening local show - we didn't go, but heard it was good. As for Grenada - we just took a water taxi to Grande Anse beach - it was a beautiful beach, but there are a lot of locals selling their crafts. It didn't really bother us - part of the experience, but many seem to complain. We also went to Ocean Liner's - it is a different experience than the main dining room. The service is exceptional - they have a cheese cart etc.. great dessert. I thought it was a worth while experience. The dining room was great as well. There is also a great cruise website - cruisecritic.com that has active boards on all cruiselines.

We sailed this ship Jan. 04. There were very few kids due to the time of year. It is a lovely ship, and the specialty restaurant Ocean Liner is wonderful. If the schedule is the same you will arrive in DR around 1 p.m. We took the cabs to a fort which was nice to walk around and very scenic. The best attraction there is a night time show called Kandella. It is not to be missed. It is in a huge outside theater, and very good. I highly recommend you go to this show. As for Grenada you tender here. The ships are to large for the port. When you get on the dock, there will be plenty of taxi's offering to take you around the island on a tour. If you go with other people in a van, it will run you about $20.00 per person. You will get to see the lovely lush Island of Grenada, how they make spices, a place where there are monkeys in trees etc. It will last only about 4 hours, then go to the beach.Grand Asne Beach. Take a water taxi there. This is what we did and split up the time. It was a full day. Enjoy your cruise.
