Celebrity and Smoking

My husband and I have been on 5 cruises and all but one of them have been on Carnival's Paradise. The whole ship is totally smoke free. I am very allergic so this is why we've chosen this ship for every cruise. We're getting tired of the same ship and same line. Can anyone tell me if Celebrity allows smoking in their staterooms? Can you smell it the hallways? etc... I don't mind if people smoke on the decks outside, its just we had a bad experience prior to the Paradise and our stateroom smelled so bad that it made us both sick. If anyone can share their experiences with me I would appreciate it. If Celebrity allows smoking is it in one designated area? I know they have a cigar bar on board so we can stay clear of that area. We would like to cruise the Summit and hear your suggestions.

Thanks!
Elaine

Hi Elaine,

Celebrity allows smoking in the staterooms but I doubt you will smell any cigarette smoke since the air cleaning system takes care of the stale odors. Passengers can also smoke in designated areas. You will see these areas since they are marked and there are ashtrays. I would advise you to stay out of the casino since the air cleaning system cannot take care of all the smoke when it is busy. Go early morning or late night. There is no smoking allowed in the showroom or dining room. You make smell a wiff of smoke in the hallways if a passenger is passing through with a cigarette.

Paul

Celebrity actually has a side of some of the ships that are non-smoking cabins

From the Celebrity web site: "There are no non-smoking staterooms".

On the Zenith last November, there was a fairly strong cigarette smoke odor in our cabin each evening; I don't know whether it came from the hallway or a nearby cabin.

we traveled on Celebrity last year with no problem of smoke issues. I have asthma so really empathize with you.

Cunard however is another story...very poor ventilation system in my opinion.

If you are really concerned...take along a portable air cleaner for your cabin. I have one that is the size of a shoebox, it is made by a Swedish firm. I think you can purchase online at any health and lifestyle site.

Have fun on Celebrity...am traveling again on Constellation in April.

Seeing that the original post is 4 years old I wonder where Elaine cruises now since Carnival dropped the no smoke ship.
