Carnival Liberty versus Carnival Breeze

Considering 8 day Breeze out of Ft Lauderdale or 7 day Liberty out of San Juan.
Itineraries are similar with stops in St Kitts - major importance to us to see DD.
Extra sea day on Breeze.
With cost of flights plus cost of cruise, total cost per person is exactly the same.
I can get direct, non-stop flights to both, flights to SJ are a bit longer.
I know Liberty is older, but refurbished.
Anyone been on both - would greatly appreciate opinions.
If you have been on either one, would like opinions of that one.
It will be DH, me, with middle aged DD and GD, age 6.

I've been on Breeze twice but never been on Liberty. Breeze is our favorite ship for the loads of things for us all to do. Lots of included food options too. Our favorite things about Breeze are the Water Works, ropes course and the toned down decor. The kids like Cherry on Top also as we let them have a treat every so often. Also, if you have Matt Mitcham as CD you can't go wrong!

We are on the new Vista next summer and I think that is going to be our new favorite.

Should also mention that Breeze is in Miami not FLL until it moves to Galveston.

Trvlgirlmg, Thank you. You are absolutely right. Breeze is out of Miami. I have been looking at it so long - don't know how I missed that. I could still fy into FLL, but will check flights out of Miami.

I just didn't want you to show up at Everglades and not see your ship

Trvlgirlmq,

On sea days, did you feel the public areas, especially the pools, were really crowded, too small for the number of people on the ship?

Was the pool area very noisy? It often is, and is OK, just want to know ahead.

Little GD is very small and thin. She could not go on any of the water slides before. Are there any on Breeze you think might be suitable for a child, about 35-40lbs?

Were smoking areas isolated or did smoke migrate into other public spaces?

Thanks so much.

The pool areas do get crowded especially once lunch time rolls around. We were usually at the main pool around 9 am and stayed until Noon and it wasn't too bad. We would move indoors or to other areas of the ship when it got really hot. Sometimes we went back later and so long as we didn't mind sharing one lounger we got a seat (kids would be in the pool so I just sat to watch).

Music could get kind of loud in the afternoon but wasn't too much of an issue in the AM.

There are 2 big twister slides plus 2 small toddler slides. The water play area is fun for my kids as well. I think there would be enough to keep her occupied for a while and having a good time. Our last cruise we had the 2 sea days at the front and the slides were closed both days because of wind. They were open while in port and on our last sea day so that may be a concern.

Cigarette smoking was pretty isolated to the designated areas (although we had a balcony and someone near us was smoking on theirs). Of course if you walk through or by the casino you will definitely get a whiff. The people who use those e-cig things were very rude and smoked them everywhere. I saw them sitting in loungers on Lido with big puffs coming up, I passed a couple people who were blatantly taking a hit walking in the atrium, and so forth. There was no enforcement by the staff of any kind. This is my biggest pet peeve that the crew is too afraid of the passengers to do their job and that the cruise line does not empower and back up the staff to enforce their own rules. Rant over!
