Carnival Breeze, Falmouth, Jamaica Ideas
After two days of sailing we arrive in Falmouth, Jamaica our first port of call on our 6 day cruise. We have never been to Falmouth and even after doing some pre-cruise research we decide to just “wing” it.
Our "wing" it plan has us just wasting away in Margaritaville.
However, here's some information that maybe useful.
To get to the Montego Bay area it is $20 per person one way. From this stand point purchasing an “All Day Pass” for $79 directly from somewhere like Sunset “All Inclusive” Resort seems like a bargain. For this price you get round trip transportation, food, drinks and non-motorized water sports activities.
To get to the closet recommended beach, Red Stripe Beach from Falmouth will cost you $22 per person. This price is just for transportation and admission to beach which is about 7 miles away. Food, beach chairs, etc.. are additional.
Margaritaville at the port is not necessarily cheap but for us it was still a bargain and convenient. Here there is a pool, plus DJ activities and decent Wi-Fi. Food prices are on the high side with a bucket of six beers costing about $20.
However, compared to going to Montego Bay that turns out to be an affordable to waste away.

DMBT, I am sorry I thought the price to go to Montego Bay was higher. I really don't think I paid $40 to go. But I am glad you made the best of it. I went to Margaritalville more than 13 years ago and I was not impressed with the food and felt it was a typical tourist trap.

tch912,
It is a good distance from Falmouth... However, since we cruise a few times a year, we are not too concerned about doing any particular activities.. just having a good time.
$160 Round trip for 4 people was just a bit too much.
I agree with you about Margaritaville.. but sometimes you just have to do what you have to do to have FUN
