book air to San Juan now or wait?

I'm getting a quote of $450pp on jet blue for air out of NY to San Juan for December (xmas week). On Spirit it's 340pp but connecting flights obviously, which could get hairy on a cruise.

Any advice on whether to wait or book now? Think they'll go down before then or am I better of booking this far in advance?

Thanks,
Rachel

I would NOT connect in the winter months unless there were absolutely no other option.IMHO--book it NOW...while the fare may go down, the seats may not be there for when you want to go.

By all means book now. The seats will become less available due to the time frame. When this happens obvioulsy the prices will go up. That is a good price considering the time frame.

Not to disagree with the others, but i recently booked this route (true, it wasn't for Xmas week) and in the course of a month saw the lowest rate at any given time for non-stop flights fluctuate between $293 - $625.

If you're flexible that you can fly out of any major NYC airport (EWR, LGA, JFK) i might consider waitng a bit, and be prepared to jump on anything at $350 or less.

Just my .02

I watch this flight intineray often.Mainly because my son is in PR and flies into Newark. He booked on Orbitz for $226.00 rd trip. This is the cheapest I have ever seen this flight, non-stop Continental. I am not sure if this is because he booked on line from there. I could have not found it that cheap from my computer. One would think Orbitz would be the same no matter where one pulled the screen up. I can't figure that one out. I have also seen the exact flight I paid $295.00 rd trip sell for $800 rd trip same rd trip flights. If rfrank1031 waits he may pay more given the holiday week.

Just thought you should all know, I booked the air (see my Galaxy in December post) and got $186pp rt from NY!! Flights connect once in Fort Lauderdale, but for this rate, I couldn't pass it up. Cheaptickets.com had the fare and said they buy spirit in bulk so you wouldn't find that rate anywhere else. Spirit, in fact, was $340pp for the same times/dates.

You may want to consider the fact that NY has a large Puerto Rican population, and this being the Christmas week, the planes could fill up very quickly.
