Bermuda in October
Can anyone advise me about weather conditions to expect in mid-October? Warm enough yto swim,on board? on the island? Have never been to Bermuda and do not know what appropriate dress is on the island(for dinner)Is there any time on the Majesty cruise that we would dress for dinner, since we like to do that once or twice. Thanks!

Have done that trip NINE times from Boston and will be doing it once more..this time from NYC on the NCL Sea..I understand there is now one optional formal night which we enjoy also). Since I'mprone to sea sickness I've personally found that mid-October was a tad too rough for me...so we go the end of May or second week in September..There is no doubt that you will find Bermuda warm enough for swimming. Appropriate dress in Bermuda for daytime is shorts..evening if you are going to dine at one of the fine restaurants long pants for men and I'm not sure about a jacket... Two people I know have just come back and I'm waiting to hear about the new "onshore dining program" For exact info write me at [email protected]

I've done Bermuda twice on the Majesty, but both times in July. We had some rough seas both times. First time, we had to change course to go around a nasty tropical depression! Many folks looked a little green. I was one of the lucky ones who did not get seasick. I absolutely LOVE Bermuda. It is my favorite "port" for cruising and I've done the Caribbean, western Mexico, and the Mediterranean. The people in Bermuda are very polite and friendly. They never push you into buying their wares. I appreciate that! As far as dressing, my last Bermuda cruise was in 2000 and we dressed up a couple of times for dinner, but you don't HAVE TO do this. You can always eat somewhere other than the diningroom. Some folks even come into the diningroom in their casual clothes. (I hate to see shorts and grubby jeans when most folks are looking nice though)

Thanks for your replies,ParrotMom and Simpson. Iguess I am still not clear on whether we will have a chance to dress formally at least one night on board the Majesty with the new meal plan. If so, which restaurant would that be in? Can we still choose to eat at a particular time each night and at the same spot (perhaps at Bhong's table, hopefully.) Hate to sound stupid but I have cruised on RC and had second seating which I really liked..

There is a great alternative restaurant Le Bistro that many people including myself enjoy... As for eating at a specific time...just tell the head waiter and request the waiter by his number or name. We had two tables a few years ago and not only did I request the waiter, but the tables, time and location when we boarded the ship..The evenng we knew we were going to be going to the Swizzle Inn I just told him we wouldn't be using our tables. You will have one at least one formal night and they usually designate the Seven Seas Dining Room rather than the Four Seasons.. There is also now, something we haven't tried..and I don't think there is a charge the Pasta Restaurant on the 9th Deck I believe.
