Anyone sailed on the Radisson line?
Just looking for comments on your experience and impressions of the cruise. Since this is a more expensive line am wondering if a young couple would feel totally out of place on these ships. Thanks for your input.

Radisson is a wonderful line - we've sailed on the Rad Diamond (12 days, Copenhagen to Lisbon) and on the new 7Seas Navigator (9 days Costa Rica to San Juan). Everything is included, the food is wonderful, open seating, 2 restaurants, mostly balconies and great discounts. Air/land arrangements -pre and post cruise are also great. We are in our mid 50's and I would say that most of the passengers are well-travelled although not necessarily "senior citizens" and on both trips we have found people on both sides of our age group as well as a few families travelling. I'd highly recommend them.

Joann,(or anyone else who may know) I'm curious as to which of the two Radisson ships you preferred (Diamond or Navigator) We too are looking into this cruise line. Other than the size of the ships and number of passengers, did you see much difference between the two ships? Can you have full cooked to order breakfast room service or is it continental breakfast only? Patsy

Patsy,
It's difficult to say which we preffered. The Diamond is the most stable ship we've ever sailed on - even through the English Channel when the seas were very rough, the ship remained stable. However, it was very slow and that's probably it's only flaw. If you don't mind slow days at sea then this ship is perfect. That being said, the 7Seas Navigator is just gorgeous with bigger shows than the Diamond and with more verandas. Service level is actually better on this new ship. Lots of the personnel came to the line from Silversea and we recognized many, many faces. On the Navigator the common areas seem to be better utilized than on the Diamond. We did prefer the Italian alternate restaurant "Don Vito's" on the Diamond over the more formal one on the Navigator but they're both great.

Patsy,
Sorry I forgot to mention the room service. Not only can you have full cooked to order breakfast, you can also have full dinner from the dining room menu served course by course or all at once in your stateroom. There is a large table top that they put over the small table in the sitting area of the room.

I've sailed on the Radisson Diamond and loved it. There were some honeymooners on our cruise (in the Baltic), also a family with well-behaved teenagers. Everyone seemed to have a good time. The Paul Gauguin in Tahiti also attracts a lot of honeymooners. These ships are a great cruise value, becasue everything is included except the shore excursions (and on some sailings those are included, too!), and drinks at the bar. And no tipping!

Hi Michelle, I am so excited about All the Rad ships. In 1998 we sailed on the Paul Gauguin S>F> to Tahiti, 18 days innaugural sailing, fantastic. Everything is included, service was excellent, room service was very efficient. We booked into the least expensive cabin and were upgraded 2 Cat. becausse our friends took our persuasion and booked also. There were some glitches because it was brand new, but we were satisfied enough that in April 1999 we booked on the Diamond from San Juan to Madeira. Again everything was wonderful. The only complaint was the layout of the Lounge, very unusual configuration. But we did enjoy the shows. Food was fantastic in Don Vito's Italian rest, where the staff called me by name. Again, we were so happy and pampered, we booked on the Nagigator for Aug. S>F> to Sydney 24 days. I can hardly wait. We did go aboard when it was in S>F> in May and it is a beautiful ship. I can hardly wait for Aug. The ships are nore expensive than the previous lines we have been on, but you only live once abd you will have some wonderful memories. This will be our 38th cruise. Happy sailing. I know you won't be disappointed. Any further ?s I would be happy to answer. Bon Voyage

Just returned forn a 9 day Alaska cruise, on the Radisson Mariner. Our suite was the basic suite for this ship. it had a privite balcolny with two lounge chairs and a table. Large sliding glass doors separate the balcolny form a living area, and bedroom. There is a bowl of fresh fruit and fresh floweres in your suite daily. On arrival there was a bucket of champagne, and a platter of cheese and crackers. Radisson does everything to pamper you and make you feel special. REfrigerator is stocked daily with your choices of soft drinks and bottle water. Service is not like anything I have ever seen. Room service is superb, delivered promptly and set up elegantly. The dining rooms are another fine dining experience. There is an overall french influence, with a varied menue. There is unlimited wine chosen by the wine steward for each meal. This wine is served until you say stop. When I did a comparison for what you get with radisson, and what is left out with other lines, Radisson seems to be the only choice. There is no tipping, the only things you oy for is mixed drinks. They even have washers and dryers and an ironing board on each floor. The use is complimentry, they even supply the detergent. Shoe shines are complementary, Everything was perfect and elegent. The only way to go.
