We used priceline.com to get the Renaissance last year in January. Nice place, the priceline.com price was about $100 a night. There are two more places very close, Hyatt 66 and Hyatt Marina (I think that's right). There's lots of good information on Fort Lauderdale, and cruising, on cruisecritic.com too.

We took a cruise on the Millenium a couple of years ago out of Ft. Lauderdale and we stayed at the Marriott Springhill Suites. It was ok but very noisey and I made a note in my journal that the next time we would definitely stay at the Comfort Inn across the street. We went over there for a drink and it was a great time by all around the pool and much more appealing than the Marriott.

This March before our cruise we stayed in the Riverside on Las Olas blvd.
It was very nice and if your there a day ahead of time you can just walk out onto the blvd. and do some window shopping. Be sure not to miss the crepe restaurant, I don't remember their name.
