3 niight cruise; Carnival or Disney?
My wife and I are taking our kids, 6 and 8, on a 3 night cruise, out of Port Canaveral, in Feb, 2004. These 2 cruise lines fit in to our schedule best. Has anyone been on a 3 night cruise with 2 kids on either line? Thanks for the help!

I've been on the 3 day Disney cruise with a girl a little older than yours. She loved all the characters and had a pretty good time on the trip. I'm sure I, personally, would have had just as good a time on Carnival and saved a ton of money to boot. In my opinion, Disney Cruise Line does not live up to all the "hype" portrayed in their commercials and by their die-hard fans. (See disboard.com for cruise reviews. People there LOVE DCL...)

I think it's the ship, not so much the line, that's most important on a short cruise. The Jubilee (Carnival) was a really dinky ship and the crowd was rowdy and obnoxious at times. Obviously, the cheaper the cruise, the less sophisticated the crowd. I don't want to be a snob here, but there were some real characters on that cruise. I actually had people fall on me by the pool and spill drinks on us.The Sovereign (RCCL) was nicer for the crowd; still the ship was old and not too nice. I would lean toward the Disney cruise.

Hi - Just registered and found your question. Tho I am a diehard Disney fan - I took my 2 kids 6 & 10 on the Fantasy last summer after 6 days onsite at WDW. Having been on many cruises, with and w/o kids,I am not willing to pay Disney prices for ships.Kids LOVED Camp Carnival, ship was sparkling clean, excellent service!
Only 10% of the population has EVER cruised, supposedly. I sometimes think that Disney is tapping into some of the rest of that market playing into folks' trust and knowledge of Disney properties, but ignorance of the cruise industry in general. JMHO!
Try Carnival - really - I have done the $$$$ to the -$ over the years, and found that CCL has a more than adequate experience for my kids and for me!
