Won bid Skyauction-Which Lido?
I have been watching and biding on Skyauction and finally won my bid
for 7 nights at a Grand Lido in
Jamaica. My final price- $2350
total for both of us, seven nights.
(If you bid, watch what things are
going for, set a limit to what you
would pay. Read all the fine print on the
taxes that are added per day or week, per
person. I watched for 3 weeks, and
kept an eye on how it works...i think!!)

On to my question. I put in to stay
our 7 nights in Negril. I haven't heard
back to see if the dates I want are
available. I was wondering about how
Negril compares to the other two Grand
Lido's. My husband and I want to just
relax, do some water activities, and eat
great food. We aren't really into big
formal dinners, and don't want to dress
up much. We aren't into the late night
parties.
Also, our room is the lowest category,
and wondered if they give upgrades ever
on arrival? I was wanting to do the
dinner cruise on the boat, on our
anniversary. Has anyone done that? Is
it nice? Thanks in advance for your
help!

Avon

GL Braco has the village, which I hear is great - more laid back, casual, more nightlife

GL Negril is just incredible. It was voted one of the top ten resorts in the Caribbean by Conde De Naste Traveler in 2001. More upscale, very relaxing, on a beautiful beach, great food and service. The yacht that the own is so wonderful for the sunset cruises.

GL San Souci is known for its spa services. People rave about it luxury, relaxation elements.

Can not go wrong! You got an excellent price!

Great price! I've been to GL Negril twice and enjoyed it. The cocktail cruise on the yacht (can't remember the name but belonged to Grace Kelly) is very enjoyable. Definately do that if you go. Don't know about the dinner cruise though. You'll have a good time!

Thanks for the advice. Maybe the cruise
is just a cocktail one, I might have read that wrong. The GLB village sounds cool. I will have to read more about that. I am not into the 'spa' stuff, so, I hope I don't get the Sans Souci one. Can't wait!!

I GOT GRAND LIDO NEGRIL FOR
THE DATES I NEEDED!!! YIPPEE!
It is a done deal, paid for
and I can't change it or cancel
it without losing my money. That
makes me a bit nervous!
I did request to Skyauction if we
could get an upgrade on the room to
Ocean View or Beach Front. We don't
want the clothing optional beach front.
Does anyone know how the rooms are laid
out? How many in each category, or a
good building to request? thanks in
advance!

Lucky you!! That's a terrific price you got!! We really enjoyed GLN (and GLSS & GLB too). Of the 3, we liked our room and the food best at GLN. We had room 2075 on the C.O. side and it was very close to the water (we left our french doors open all week so we could hear the waves lapping in to shore). The rooms on the C.O. side are closer to the water, but I think Superclubs recently made these a higher category room so you probably won't get those on ROH. Here's a good link from the Yahoo Grand Lido message board I read that has trip reports, pics, map of GLN....

Jackie

http://www.geocities.com/mhight_74/GLN_link/GLN_Frame.html
