Wine

There are 4 of us going to Cayman in August and staying at Regal Beach Club. I have been reading with interest all about buying groceries but was wondering about buying wine and alcohol. Can you buy wine in the grocery stores - liquor stores? And what about selection and cost? We were wondering if we should/could bring some wine with us? Thanks for your help!

I'm not sure about GC, but in the USVI wine, beer & liquor are sold in grocery stores. As with most things that must be imported, they are also expensive. We do bring bottles of wine, well wrapped in bubble wrap & inside plastic bag (to contain leakage if one were to break) and packed them in our check through suitcases. We have not had any problems in transit. It was nice to enjoy our favorite wines and not pay a premium for them.

Liquor and wine are sold in liquor stores - not at the grocery store. Good selection on all items.

Just down the road from where you are staying is Fosters Grocery Store. In the same shopping complex is Blackbeards Liquor... they have a great selection of wines from around the world. There are plenty of liquor stores on the island so you should be fine..... liquor is not sold in the grocery stores...

Each adult is allowed to bring in 4 liters of wine. While you will be able to find a large selection of wine on the island, you will save money buying it at home. Of course the trade-off is packing and carrying it. I usually do the wine/liquor in my carry-on.
