We have friends that moved to St Thomas in 2008. Here is a link to their blog. I started it at the beginning, start at the bottom of the page and work up.

You can also check out this re-location forum for some of your questions.

Our friends that moved there love it and are both employed.

Go to the Virgin Islands Relocation website: www.vimovingcenter.com

It's a very comprehensive website and froum dedicated to living and working in the USVI's. There's so much information there it will take weeks to read everything. Every conceivable question you could ever have is discussed at lenth. On the forum, there are litterally thousands of posts on every topic all being answered by those who have "made the move". If you don't visit this website and read the material there you are doing yourself a great disservice.

Also, get and read a copy of "The Settler's Handbook" (available from Amazon or on the VI Relocation website. It's a must read for anyone contemplating a move to the VI's.

I just realized you are the same persoon who started the thread "Relocate to which island???"

Take it from someone who lives in the islands - the responses you get on this or any other travel forum will be very general at best. For the in-depth info you really need go to the USVI Relocation website I and others have previously mentioned in our responses. The infomation you find and get there will be invaluable to you and be far, far better than any reponse you get on Fodors or other "travel related" forums.

I lived and practiced law on the US Virgin Islands 2007/2008..There are pluses and minuses in living there..It is one of the most beautiful places on earth..great beaches everywhere..Making a living can be tough..The economy is very seasonally..mostly good in winter..Charlotte Amallie is crowded and crime is bad in certain areas..St John is a tropical paradise but hard to make a living there. No big shopping malls and food travel is a hassel. If you are sure of an income stream..there are quite/safe place to live..every where has a great view..To learn from a local check out this site:
