I was married and honeymooned at the Wyndham Sugar Bay last July.I highly recommend this resort and hope to return soon.I have never been to the Turks ,but understand that it is a quite island.St. Thomas on the other hand is a busy island, although the Wyndham is located in a quite part of the island. We also visited St. John for the day which was great!!You only need take the water ferry and it is about a $6 roundtrip, 20 min. trip. Do a search on this webpage for info. on the hotels you are interested in.Good luck and e-mail me directly if you would like me to answer specific questions about St. Thomas and the Wyndham.

These are not budget destinations. <BR>You could do Isla Mujeres ( a small carribean island off Cancun with beautiful beachs}. Hotels $33 to $80 in July. Meals $3 to $9. Can e-mail you our 15 page travel document on Island and surrounds if you request dan and ginny

Mary, you have chosen to very different destinations! St. Thomas is very "tropical," lush and Caribb-like while the TCI are more barren and dry. The water is breathtaking as is the beach on Provo but it is one looong beautiful beach with resorts scattered along it. Provo is just starting to really experience the tourist boom. There is little to no shopping, the Islanders are wonderful, Allegro has a small casino but there is little else but beach, beach activity and trips to nearby smaller cays for exploring, snorkling, etc and a great off-shore reef for diving and snorkling! As I have not stayed on Provo since five years ago, I can't address Allegro specifically as Allegro had just assumed ownership. But it is experiencing lots of growth but is a super beach destination! Sugar Bay is a hirise overlooking the waters and the BVI from a bluff on STT and has fabulous views! STT offers more activity and options than does the TCI, but no gambling. The BVI is within an easy day trip (passport or certified birth certificate necessary and photo id)- and not to be missed - and there is plenty of sailing, snorkling and diving there as well. It is more "cosmopolitan" than TCI and the sailing is incredible! Also the beaches on STT and STJohn, only a 15 minute ferry ride away, are smaller coves ringed with tropical growth and seagrape trees - a very different experience that the TCI! You have the option of a shopping mecca, loads of good resturants (in many price ranges) or even, if you are on a tite budget, doing some cooking-in if you choose a resort villa with cooking facilities that will offer you the best of both! (I won't cook on vacation so wouldn't blame you for passing on that!) And, if you check carefully, you might find even better "bargains" than the all-inclusive at Sugar Bay that would give you more options! There is much more to do/to see on STT than in the TCI outside of either resort. You might also look at the travel arrangements to see which destination will use more vacation time going and coming - no fun loosing two days of vacation sitting on planes!!! Let us know what you decide and good luck deciding!
