Check out Ambergris Caye Belize. Maybe Caye Caulker or Placencia as well.

The beaches aren't as nice as Isla or Playa, but the snorkeling is wonderful.

Also, St. Kitts, we stayed at Timothy Beach Resort. Not fancy, but, ok beach, several restaurants/beach bars within walking distance. We didn't rent a car, used cabs and walked alot.

You might check out Tortola - all your requirements there, plus island hopping to Virgin Gorda, Jost van Dyke. Nice beaches, great people, extremely laid back.

Try Grand Cayman. There are private villa rentals all up and down 7 Mile Beach but they run $300.00US and up per night. A two bedroom condo split between two couples would fit your $ criteria. Timothy Beach resort : St. Kitts is a good suggestion. It's popular and in a good location.

You might also like the Blue Horizons Resort in Grenada. They're recently renovated cottages with kitchenettes, just a short walk away from Grand Anse beach on Grenada. Easy walking distance to a grocery store, other shops, restaurants, and some watering holes.

Flamboyant Hotel, directly facing Grand Anse beach, is also a good bet, with some of their rooms having kitchenettes.

Hello. How about looking into Tulum? The Latin America forum, locogringo and tulum.info have lots of information. Small cabana like properties; just make sure you get one with 24 hour electricity and A/C since those are musts.

We've stayed at numerous places without air conditioning or 24 hour electricity. Depending on the time of year, it really isn't a problem.

JeanH-A/c may not be a problem for you, but it can be for others. I for one won't go somewhere tropical in the summer without A/C.

I didn't see any post that specified summer travel. I generally want a/c in the summer as well.

In the winter/spring, there are wonderful properties along the Tulum hotel zone that aren't air conditioned. And the rooms aren't hot.

The OP stated A/C was a must. I was replying to OP.

I also recommend St.Kitts Timothy Beach we stayed in a one bedroom condo last year for two weeks and had a delightful time. It has everything you are asking for - cleanliness we found to be be no problem...but that is very personal I am finding...all other expectations are met in spades at this location.

Also I agree with the Flamboyant in Grenada we stayed at the Cottage in this hotel and it was fantastic....but there are quite a few stairs which may bother some...

Timothy Beach Resort is more likely the best fit of the two!

Check the largely Italian-run
guesthouses, a few with a/c, most with quite good food and reasonable prices on LOS ROQUES
