Which Island -- Fishing from the shore?

We have been to most Islands & have never paid attention to which ones allow fishing from the shore. Does anyone know? My wifes brother would like to go to an Island where this is possible. Thank you

Most islands allow fishing from shore BUT the reason you don't see many people doing it is there's not much to catch close to shore. Pretty much all the game fish are out in the deep water (hence the popularity of Deep Sea Fishing) and the reefs where the "reef fish" swim are generally too far from shore. By the way, beware of eating reef fish caught in the Caribbean as many have the toxin Ciguatera.

For what it is worth, a lot of islands have salt ponds where you can fish for tarpon.

Personally, I wouldn't let the ability to fish from shore to be a major factor in choosing an island destination.

While agree most islands allow shore fishing, I couldn't disagree more about there being "not much to catch". If you know what you are doing, and know where to go, you can find world class fishing from shore among many islands, but you have to do your homework. Do understand that many of the techniques required to catch these fish from shore not only require good equipment(rods, reels, line, lures), but some first hand knowledge on how to do it.

90% of the fish are caught by 10% of the fisherman. You want to know why? Because that other 90% of people usually don't have a clue when it comes to fishing. I have swam with just about every gamefish imaginable just snorkeling from shore. The fish are there if you know what the heck you are doing. Do some local research for these islands, and you find the people that can show you how.
