Where to stay in Freeport of these two places?

Has anyone stayed at either the Port Lucaya Resort or the Crowne Plaza Golf Resort & Casino at The Royal Oasis? Can you walk to the beach from either of these resorts?

The Port Lucaya Resort is right on the beach, by the Lucaya Marketplace so there are lots of restaurants and shopping in the area.

The other resort is close to the International Market and not at all close to the beach but I believe there is a shuttle to the beach from there.

Royal Oasis has been closed since September, all repair work was suspended in late December/early January. No reopeing is in sight and none probably will be unless/until new ownership takes over the resort.

Actually Port Lucaya Resort is not right on the beach. You will have to walk across the street, through the Sheraton/Westin property, and then on to the beach (note that beach, even though it is right in front of Sheraton/Westin resort is still public). Not a long walk but you should not expect beach front at that hotel. Have you checked out other hotels? Have you read reports on Tripadvisor.com about Port Lucaya?

Depending on budget, you might consider the Sheraton/Westin Our Lucaya Resort or Pelican Bay (also not beach front but same short walk and very nice).

Just a thought, you could check out Island Seas Reosrt, timeshare condo, it is beachfront with a nice pool. Easy drive to Marketplace and Lucaya to eat etc. We booked through condoexpress.com. Hope it helps some-Carol
