Where to go with mom?
I'm planning a trip with my mother and I need some advice on where to go. I'm 28 and single, she is 52, fairly active and married to my dad. Definitely not looking for a romantic, secluded getaway, lots of kids, or a Hedonism-type place. Not interested in Nassau, Cancun, Jamaica, or St Thomas. We'd like to snorkel, go sailing, relax, have fun, enjoy some nightlife, explore...how about St John? Cayman Islands? Antiqua? Harbour Island - Bahamas? Looking for a resort with nice pool, bar/restaurant(s), great beach, and a/c.

You might want to consider Aruba. The beaches are beautiful, the weather is consistently good, and it's very safe. There's great sailing and snorkeling available, and the restaurants are wonderful. In the evenings you can visit the casinos, or some of the hotels offer Vegas/Broadway style shows. It is a popular spot with honeymooners, but there are families, friends and groups of all kinds staying there. Take a look at www.arubatourism.com

I second Bermuda. Bermuda has good shopping for quality items, good restaurants, nice resorts (Try the South Hampton Princess), and very good snorkeling (Try Church Bay). You don't have to worry about driving (because there are no rental cars on the island), and you can just use one of the best bus systems I've ever used (or a taxi) to get around. Depending on what you like to do, there is also the perfumery, the glass works, and Gibbs light house for a fantastic scenic look at Bermuda. You could also consider Hawaii if you like more scenic things and sites to see, and something more like the U.S., but less quality shopping...If you need any information on Bermuda (or Maui for that matter), just e-mail me.

I'd recommend Harbour Island in the Bahamas as a wonderful destination. You can fly into Nassau and shop for the day and take the last ferry over to Harbour Island, takes about 2 hours and it is a beautiful boat ride over.

There are several nice resorts and lots of good restaurants and one of the best beaches in the world.

The hotels on the island with a pool are Runaway Hill (our favorite, small only 10 rooms and the best food on the island), Pink Sands, and Romora Bay.

Have a wonderful time wherever you go and if you need any more info on Harbour Island, please let me know, post here or email.
