Where to go? ...Barbados, Cayman Islands, Turks & Caicos
Hello,
My husband and I are considering a trip to the Caribbean later this year. We have decided to travel to one of the following places: Barbados, Cayman Islands or Turks & Caicos. Although we've done considerable research on each of the islands, we are still confused on what place will give us the best vacation. We prefer to have access to great beaches, some shopping and nightlife (me), and a place that isn't too crowded. We would also like to engage in some local activities (namely, great restaurants) although it won't consist of snorkeling or hiking.
Any input or insight is greatly appreciated!

Turks and Caicos will have the best beaches of the 3 you list- 12 miles of soft white sand and clear water on Grace Bay, excellent Dining--music a few nites per week, limited shopping but, a few stores. Turks is less crowded than the Caymans-no fast food or chains like Grand Cayman...AND no crowds like GC when a cruise ship is in town !!

If your not considering snorkeling, then I would rule out Grand Cayman and Turks & Caicos. Though I haven't been to Barbados, from research, it sounds more like what you are looking for. I would also throw in Aruba if you haven't been there. Excellant dining and good shopping/nightlife. Not too crowded if you go in the off season.

Most areas of Seven Mile Beach are not crowded by cruise ship passengers. There are 2 areas where cruisers are dropped off. The rest of Seven Mile Beach is uncrowded. If you go off season you almost think you are the only one on the beachThere are excellent restaurants. Many right on the water.
However, none of the three places you mentioned have a great nightlife.

a bit more exotic with a Brit flavor than
your other flatter smaller more beachy/snorkel islands
Barbados sounds better for what you want or perhaps

We just returned from Grand Cayman, and now can say we have been to all three places you are interested in. They all have wonderful things about them. You can't go wrong with any of the beaches, but IMO, I would rate T&C beach the best, followed closely by GC then Barbados.
We didn't really go off of our resort, bc we were just so relaxed and loving every minute of it, but from what I've heard Georgetown in GC is a very nice shopping area. We don't tend to shop on our vacations, so i can't really speak to that.
the restaurants on T&C and in Barbados are very good. I loved visiting the restaurants and seeing different parts of the islands. In GC, which may be a little less well known for great restaurants, we never left our hotel (the Ritz), but i will say we had amazing meals every meal.
Of all three though, the first I'd return to is T&C.
