Where to dive in Bonaire?
Hello, we will staying at the Divi Flamingo for 7 days in early June. We love to Scuba Dive and will be more under the water; than above... We would appreciate any feedback on planning scuba dives (both offshore and boat) during our stay. Also, for transportation is it best to rent a vehicle or just taxi? In advance, thank you!

We snorkeled, did not dive. But check out http://www.infobonaire.com/divemap.html for map of dive sites.
As you can see from the map, all the dive sites are on one side of the island. It's hard to find a bad spot to snorkel/dive -- the island is incredible.
The other side has very rough waters (gorgeous to look at though).
I strongly suggest renting a jeep/truck so you can easily go where you want. I know it's hard to tear yourself away from the waters, but be sure to get out one day and tour the island. It is very interesting to see all the flamingo's, salt manufacturing area, mangroves, etc.

I have been to Bonaire three times for a total of five weeks; you will have a great time. The diving is great. Boat dives are usually Captains choice but all of the dives are very good. From the boat you will want to get some of the Klein Bonaire dives in as they are not accessible from shore. Also, the piers are some of the best diving (Salt Pier and Town Pier). These make great night dives; but you have to have advance permission and dive with a dive master. If you like a wreck dive, the main one is the Hilma Hooker at about 100 ft. Highly recommend going to Bonaire Talk for more information; they are very good people on the board and you should get a copy of Bonaire - Shore Diving Made Easy, this will fill you in on the shore dives. Have a great trip, Bon Bini.
