What are the room rate taxes/fees for Cat island?

Hi,We are considering a trip to Cat Island and would like to know how much taxes/fees are tacked on to the room rate??
I think it's around 20-25% but I'm not sure.
Thanks.
Debbie

In the places I've stayed, there's a 15% gratuity and 10% room charge. So, about 25% for taxes and fees. Robert59

Thanks Robert59.I just got an e-mail from Fernandez Bay.They have Tamarind and Pina Colada Cottage available for our dates.Their website does not give much info on booking and cancellation policies.Does anyone that has stayed there before know what they are? Any other info would be great too.
Thanks.

Unless it's changed, FBV requires a $500 deposit for a stay, and the only credit card they accept for the deposit is Amex. You pay the balance when you depart, and that can be paid with any credit card.

The deposit is not refundable, but if you can't stay when reserved, it will be applied to another visit.

I'm going on recollection here; if the policy isn't on the website, call the reservations office and they'll give you the lowdown.

If you're interested, I just posted my trip report from my last Cat Island visit (Nov 06) on my personal webpage: www.homestead.com/islandtime/MainPage1.html.

Wow callaloo thanks so much for all the info! I loved all three of your Cat Island trip reports.Especially the frog in the toilet! So cute. How did he get in there if the lid was closed? Mmmm.
We have stayed at many places with lizards, frogs, cockroaches and such so we won't mind some cottage friends during our stay.
We are looking at going thru Majestic Holidays for our stay. It's $720 pp includes 4 nights FBR and round-trip Nassau to Cat Island. It seems like a fair price. It's $30 less than what I can get booking it seperately.

Have a wonderful time! You'll never look at "normal" vacations the same way.

Don't forget to stop in at the pub that Sidney Poitier's owns. Great rake 'n scrap band. Maybe Sidney will be there...who knows. Robert59

Thanks callaloo.I sure we'll love Fernandez Bay!
Thanks for the suggestions Robert59.
If we can find the pub we'll stop in for a drink.
I called Cat Island Air today and they said there's plenty of availability for our dates.I'm so glad.I was worried all the flights to Cat were booked!

Debden; You'll find the islanders there very friendly. I don't know the name of Poitier's daughters restaurant/bar. Her name is Ann Poitier. Sidney grew up in Arthur's Town. Ann organizes a yearly rake n' scrap festival. It would be neat if it's going on when you're there. Just ask any local and he/she will give you the details of the place. Have fun! Robert59
