Wedding in Caribbean

Hello, I would like to have a small wedding on an island but want to get married in a catholic church. I am particularly interested in Bermuda- does anyone know if out of towners can get married there? Or any other islands that with churches that allow out of towners to get married? thanks

Kristen,
The previous poster is correct, Bermuda is not in the Caribbean, neither are the Bahamas but almost any island in the Caribbean will have a catholic church. I would concentrate first on finding an island that you love and then finding the church. The tourist board of the island will be able to give you a list of churches. Then you'll need to contact the pastor to see what the rules are. It shouldn't be difficult but you will need permission from your home parish to marry in a different church, again your own pastor will just give you a simple letter. Then the only thing left is meeting the civil regs for marriage on whatever island you choose. They differ. Probably the easiest are the US Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands. Although none of them are that difficult from what I've heard.

Bermuda is an great destination wedding. Filing a Notice of Intended Marriage is all the paperwork that is required which can be done by mail. Once filed the bans are posted and the license is good for 3 months. There are 6 Catholic Churches on Bermuda. Try www.bermuda.com/categories/religion to begin your search for the right church.
Many islands make it easy for visitors to have their wedding.
Best wishes.
