wedding bells
Help !! We are searching for a location for our daughters wedding in either January or February. The group will be small ,25 to 30 people. Parameters are as follows: easy flight from Boston, beach location with a real tropical beach feeling. Nothing too big. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks

Congratulations! May I suggest that you post as much more info as you can? The more specific you can be, the more helpful we can be. Budget is a biggie, type of accomodations, etc. Also, if you don't get many replies, you might want to re-post with a different subject line, along the lines of "Need help choosing island for small wedding". Lots of readers will be more likely to respond if they can see from your subject what you're looking for.
And for what it's worth, Bermuda's weather isn't the best that time of year, so you can probably cross one island off your list!
Good luck!

Between Christmas and the first of May is considered high season, so be aware you will pay more for air and hotel than any other time of the year. Are you wanting an AI hotel or a regular hotel? Most all Islands in Mexico/Caribbean will give you that tropical beach feeling. What other things does the couple or guests want to do after all the wedding activities are over? We'll need more info like budget, tyoe of hotel accomendations and length of stay. There are some AI's that specialize in weddingmoons. Would they be interested in that? I would first suggest that you research some of the Islands and see if you can narrow down a few to choose from then re-post with more specifics. I would say that the Bahamas would probably be to chiily at that that time of year.

Barbados is beautiful with it's lovely stretches of beaches and some ragged cliffs. Some wonderful places to have picnics, some areas have very calm waters for swimming and others are more dramatic. There's golf, horse racing, rum tours, sightseeing, surfing lessons, and some romantic spots - all kinds of things to keep the guests entertained when they're not busy with the wedding.

i'd eliminate turks & caicos for coolness too.
grand cayman would be a possibility. many resorts along seven mile beach if ppl have different budgets. amer through miami.
have not been on barbados, but agree it should offer lots of to do options and a variety of resort pricing, and would have a tropical look. amer through jfk.
would you consider the maya riveria coast of mex - south of cancun? nonst on jet blue, usair, aeromex & delta.
on st. thomas she could be married at secret harbour beach resort. all condo style rooms - so large, with decks, lovely beach with nice spots for wedding. has good restaurant/bar. i gave a wedding shower there. ussair or amer nonstop. or amer with 1hr stop in san juan.
will any grandparents or others who might have difficulty getting around be going?
keep in mind that if your daughter is not married in usvi or puerto rico she will need to make some special arrangements to be legal. not a big obstacle just needs to be set up and a few islands want the couple to be on island a couple days before the ceremony.
almost every resort has access to a wedding planner. some islands have independent planners. i advice you use one. they can suggest spots for the ceremony, know where to get the 'chosen' flowers, music, make license arrangements, etc.
does the couple want a carribean honeymoon? same island or somewhere different? if they change locations they may need to fly to san juan to do so. there are small airlines between some islands or ferries.
