Hi, we planned on getting married in September of this year. The idea of a wedding and honeymoon in one sound’s like a good idea. I was looking on Cayman Islands, because I heard it was a great romantic vacation for our honeymoon and offers plenty for our guests on island if they want to stay a bit.

I saw there were several packages offered for people planning weddings on Caribbean. http://www.caymanislands.ky/caymanvows/whycayman.aspx, we saw a bunch of packages here that look great.

How far in advance should I book something? Do I pay for flights?
Anyone has any experienced in Cayman Islands?
Any advice on destination wedding etiquette would be appreciated.

1) Whether or not your air transportation is included in the price depends on the "wedding package" you purchase. More often than not airfare IS NOT included.
2) September is the hight of "Low Season" in the Caribbean - many resorts are closed or operating with reduced staff so your accommodation/wedding venue choices could be somewhat limited. It's also the height of hurricane season and while the threat of a major storm affecting the island during any given week is small there's always the possibility it could happen - best to consider purchasing Trip Interruption Insurance that will reimburse you for any non-refundable expenses you incur if you have to cancel your trip do to a storm.
3) If you are expecting guests to attend your wedding at their own expense make sure you can recommend resorts/hotels that will fit their particular budgets.

Oh, by the way, I noticed your post is tagged "St. Lucia" but you seem to be asking about weddings in the Cayman Islands. That might confuse people trying to respond as St. Lucia is nowhere near the Caymans.

I chose not to help finance anyone's trip. It simply would have been too costly. I knew it would be tough that not everyone would be able to make it, but it turned out to be an incredible time (best trip of my life). My wife and I chose to have a quiet ceremony back at home, followed by a celebration for the whole family, almost like an additional reception.

I don't have any experience with the Cayman islands, but having been to the USVI's, BVI's, and BWI's you simply can't go wrong with fine sand and blue waters. It's your big day, go to the beach and have the time of your life.

Cayman New Resident magazine also has good info about getting married in Cayman. Your wedding planner should take care of the licensing requirements and other issues.
Since it is the off season, there will be less flights going to the island, you may want to book early.
You will also be able to get excellent rates from hotels at that time of year. There are many luxury condos on the island, it may be more affordable to book a block of condos than hotel rooms depending on how many people are coming.
