Virgin Islands from St Martin

I will be spending three weeks in St Martin in August. I have already been there a few times and have visited Anguilla, St Kitts, Guadeloupe and St Barts. This time I plan to spend a day in Saba, but I would also like to know about the possibilities of going to the the British and US Virgin Islands. Is it easy to get there for a day or two or three? What airlines fly there? What islands are the best to visit and easiest to get to? Are the inter-island ferries frequent and reliable?
TIA for any assistance you may give me.
Vicki

from St. Maarten the airline LIAT flies dialy to teh Virgin Islands. It take approximately 1 hour. Flights from St. Maarten usually go to St THomas and then on to St. Croix.YOu could go to St Thomas in the mroning and come back in the afternoon, but it would be better to plan to stay a day or 2. there is a ferry, I believe, from St Thomas to St. John. I also once took a ferry from St Thomas to Tortola which was very nice

Thanks Barbara,

Any other islands you can recommend? Is Aruba too far away for a 2/3 day visit?

P.S Is Cheri's still open in St Martin? Any other good places you can recommend to dance the Salsa and Merengue? We know Boo Boo Jam's, La Bodega del Medio and a discotheque whose name I can't remember, but it's over an Italian restaurant in Simpson Bay, but it would be nice to discover something new.

Hands down I would stay a few days on Virgin Gorda or Tortola in the BVI. They are much more chamring, safe and less touristy than St. Thomas. St. John is nice but the charm of the british really makes you feel like you are in an exotic locale. Saba is only a short boat ride away from the BVI (Actually, saba is closer to the BVI than St Martin) so this would be very easy to do.

Warning - You may not want to return to st. Martin after seeing these other islands...they are my favorites by far in the entire caribbean. Aruba would be too far to go and it seems more like an american suburb than an exotic island...it is also very touristy, but nice to visit if you like feeling like your in america.

I just read in the apper today that American Eagle will be offering a direct flight from St. Maarten to Tortola.. leave in the morning and come back in the aftenoon. that might be nice to do. Tortola is a great island
Aruba is 1 1/2 hours away by plane. It probably is too far away for a short trip.
the disco over the retsaurant was Liquids and that is not open any more. Cheri's is open. you know some of the hot spots here already. there is the Merengue Bar in Simpson Bay aacross from the Lightening Casino.
There also is Indian Beach bar on Thursday nights. and the Dolphin Casino has a great Latin Band playing on the weekends.

Dear Barbara and jbrooks,

Thanks for your eplies. I just got back from a week's vacation in the South of France and didn't check my e-mail.

Am off to St Martin on Friday. Definitely hope to give Tortola a whirl. Thanks for the advice.!
Bonnes vacances if you are going away.

Vicki
