Hi Jennifer,
We stayed at Quintessence right after it was built. We were there in July of 2003. We loved it. It's a gorgeous villa. Wonderful gourmet kitchen (even stocked with spices and liquor left over from previous guests.
The lower bedroom that has an outside entrance was unusable, however, due to some malfunction (ants got into some wiring), so the smell in that room made it not usuable. But everything in the main house was perfect.
The pool is more of a plunge pool, but good for cooling off. Gorgeous view from the very large wrap-around balcony. We loved watching the sea gulls dive into the water for food. On a starry night it's fabulous all of the stars you can see from the deck.
The closest beach - Magens Bay, is the best on the island in my opinion. We tried lots of others, but liked this best & it was about 5 minutes drive from the house down a very windy road. It was a bit crowded with summer camps for local children at various places along the beach, but if you went to one of the extreme ends, you could get away from the crowds.
Roads on St. Thomas are extremely narrow, windy & lots of hills. Getting into the house is a bit of a challenge, but we managed ok.
Nice restaurant nearby was the Stone Farm House.
I'd definitely rent it again.

We rented a sedan through Dependable Car Rentals -- you can e-mail them at:

We were happy with our car and the price.

Quin and Allure both have rather limited views--spectacular, but limited--compared to some of the villas farther out on the peterborg peninsula. Sunset and Diva both have sweeping views of both the atlantic (which is all you can see from Q. and A.)and magens bay, which you can't see from Q and A. you also won't see any sunsets from Q and A. S and D both offer nice evening views of the lights coming on above magens bay as well as cruise ships coming and going.
