Vieques Luxury Hotel or Inn

Looking for a non-chain luxury hotel on Vieques. Any ideas? Inns are fine too.

Vieques isn't really a luxury destination. For very pleasant accommodations, check out Hacienda Tamarindo. For a step up from there, check out Inn on the Blue Horizon.

There are some luxury villas on the island that I've done internet searches for. They might offer more of the ameneties that you're looking for.

Martineau Bay wasn't luxury even when it was open, in my opinion. Very pleasant, certainly. but not luxury.
I'd also caution any poster looking for luxury before booking Hix Island House--I think they look quite interesting, but they're certainly not for everybody and I would be hard pressed to consider it luxury. Bravo Beach Hotel is somewhat of a misnomer because it's not really on a beach. I felt it was very hip and cool, but not as nice as Inn on the Blue Horizon. From what Rminerva says, perhaps they've gone downhill since my last visit in 2006.

Luxury is a relative term on Vieques. =) We found the island to be interesting and beautiful, but rough and wild at the same time. Definitely not luxury, but we loved it.

I can't recommend anything in regards to "high-end" places to stay. We stayed cheap when we went.

Getting there isn't all that difficult - hop a flight via VAL and you'll be there in 20 minutes after the most beautiful scenic flight. =)

Hotel Tamarindo is more like a nice B&B. Very well run with a good breakfast. You must hire a car before arrival as they are in short supply. The hotel had beach chairs and a cooler for each room which was a nice touch. The beaches are a short ride away and just spectacular. I travelled over by ferry from Fajardo for the price of $2. each way. Seniors half price. It took 75 minutes and was a nice ride. Not much to do on the island, but a good getaway.
