Vacation recommendation for sisters

My sister and I (both married w/ children) are in desperate need of a get away. I have triplets and she has twins and we have decided it is time for a girls' trip (no husbands or kids). We are thinking someone in the Caribbean sounds good but have never been and don't know where to start looking. We would greatly appreciate any recommendations...location, hotel, etc.
Thanks!
Jacolyn

Hi Jacolyn,

Where are you traveling from?
How long is your trip?
What are your interests - Do you just want to lie on a beach, explore, hike, tour?
Do you want nightlife?
Do you want a spa?
Will you be sharing a room?

Trust me the answers to these questions will help us help you

also a budget for lodging.
and there are 2 basic kinds of islands. hilly and lush - generally volcanic based. (st.lucia, st.john) or flatter and more arid - generally coral based (turks&caicos, caymans). the coral islands have the better snorkeling, diving and the whiter sand.
when would you like to travel. besides tomorrow i mean...

virginia,

LOL

We're going to vacation the first 2 weeks in June (3rd for 10-14 days) and since I don't know whether it will be in the caribbean or back to England (we are selling our UK house), I can't book yet and I would love to travel tomorrow

My sister and I have taken several Caribbean cruises together. Very relaxing, great service, pampering, great food, etc.
This past December we went to an all inclusive resort in the Riviera Maya and had a wonderful, relaxing time.

oops sorry, here are some specifices...
-We will be travelling from Dallas
-Probably can't be gone longer than 4 nights
-My sister wants to lie on the beach and have a spa available
-I want those things to but also opportunities to scuba, snorkle and hike
-We will share a room (hopefully that will work out
-Nightlife if not a biggie...don't want a totally singles resort or a totally family resort.
-We want to travel in June or anytime after May.
Thanks so much!
Jacolyn

jacolyn, first of all you are choosing an excellent time to go to the caribbean as the costs will all be "low-season". the weather will be hot everywhere.
you have described turks and caicos to a t. you can fly (according to expedia -DFW>PLS, Mon6/5 thru Fri6/9) for 460 through miami in 71/2 hrs. you might like www.coralgardens.com nice resort directly in front of snorkeling and one of best islands in carib for diving. several spas. great restaurants. no nightlife. not much shopping. extremely laid back and relaxing. a generally helpful site is www.provo.net
another thought would be the bvi's. i have friends who snorkel and dive there often and say that it is wonderful. they stay in villas though so i can not suggest any specific resorts.

Hi,

Check out Dreams Resorts or Sunscape Resorts - they are in Mexico and the Caribbean; Puerto Vallarta, Riviera Maya, Los Cabos, Dominican Republic. They are beautiful resorts, affordable (yet luxurious), good spas, lovely pools. Many of my clients enjoy them and make return visits.

Be careful around Cancun and Riviera Maya, though. There are a few crime problems recently.

Best Regards,
Julia

Since you have only a few nights, I would suggest that you consider the west coast of Mexico - Ixtapa or Zihuatanejo. It is a beautiful area and I"m sure you can find an upscale hotel with spa. June is the start of the rainy season but my understanding of that means a shower now and then - mostly at night. Here is a good website to start -

I would also recommend Turks and Caicos. Quick flight. The beaches are really nice, decent snorkelling, and some good restaurants. Several hotels in different price ranges so you should find one that meets your requirements.
