Upscale beach resort in October?

Upscale beach resort in October?
We are looking for an upscale beach resort to visit in October -- someplace quiet, with a good beach and great food. Problem is that October is still in the hurricane season during what promises to be a very active year for Atlantic hurricanes. Any ideas?

Hurricane season should be slower by October. Most of the hurricanes that hit Florida last year ended by late September.
You might look at something like Paraiso de la Bonita on the Riviera Maya. Hurrican Emily notwithstanding, the Riviera Maya is less prone to hurricanes, generally. It has beautiful beaches.
Check out the Mexican Riviera, too. The Pacific Coast doesn't have nearly as many hurricanes as the eastern coast of Mexico. You could try the Four Seasons Puerto Vallarta, the One and Only Palmilla in Los Cabos, for instance.

The Meridian Club or Parrot Key in the Turks after Oct.15th is pretty safe. Both are small understated top-end resorts. Take Honymoon Cottage if you go to The Meridiien Club if it is still available. It is a bit more but bas some ambience the other 12 units do not have but they all have a beach "to die for". Let the management know you want 1-2 snorkel trips nearer to Provo during your stay.It will enhance your stay.

October is still hurricane season (it runs from June 1 through November 30) and many resorts (especially the up-scale ones) in the Caribbean are closed in September and October. Of course, there is no way to predict now if a major storm will be active during the particular week or two you are planning to travel and whether or not that storm (if it exists) will be anywhere near the island you are visiting.
Really, if you can only travel in October the only thing you can do is find a resort to your liking that will be open during the time you expect to travel. If you are worried about the cost you can purchase trip interruption insurance that will reimburse you for your out-of-pocket expenses if a storm does hit the island where you are staying. Trying to pick an island in the Caribbean that can guarantee you will not be hit by a hurricane is impossible. It is the risk one takes when travelling to the Caribbean in September and October.
As far as up-sacle resorts that may be open for guests in October check out the following places which I believe are open all year long, all of which are excellent resorts and consistently get rave reviews:
Four Seasons, Exuma
Four Seasons, Nevis
Caneel Bay, St. John
Little Dix Bay, Virgin Gorda
Jumby Bay, Antigua
Sandy Lane, Barbados
